I adjusted the bodice as it kept sliding down my chest. I was wearing a no sleeved black gown that was tight around my waist and big and flowy creating a gorgeous fleece of skirt. My gloves were black and my hair was tied up in a neat but acceptably messy manor. "Stop fiddling with your grown." My mother snapped at me. I sighed as I slouched my shoulders.

"I feel uncomfortable." I whined slightly. She tutted her lips at me as she walked up to me, "You look beautiful." She smiled at me. I smiled back but rolled my eyes when she walked over towards a box.

"I need to give you something." She said. I scoffed, "Here we go,"
"No Serene, this is serious." She insisted. I went quit as I waited for her to turn back around to me. She had a velvet box in hand and walked over to wear I was sitting.

She handed me the box and I ran my gloved fingers over the detailing. "A,E. What does that stand for?" I asked looking up at mother. "Amber Emerys. It was mine passed down from my mother and then my great grandmother and so on. It's an Emery heirloom." She says. I gasp as I open the box.

There laid a beautiful and elegant piece. A necklace filled with pearls, diamonds and red rubies. I touched it it carefully as I held it like it was glass.
"Red rubies. The Emery colour." I said as I picked up the necklace. She smiled at me as said, "Let me help."

She took the necklace and went behind me. She put it over my neck and it sat perfectly on top of my collarbone. I held it as I looked at it on me through the tall mirror. I smiled as I felt good wearing the necklace.
"Thank you mum." I said. She nodded as she dabbed her eyes with a handkerchief, "We must leave, we're already late."
"Are you crying?" I ask slightly chuckling.
"No, I'm not crying I have makeup on." She lied.

I snorted as I laughed waking past her. "If you say so." We walked down the grand staircase into the foyer. My father was already standing there, he was talking to our house elf.
"Make sure the doors are locked firmly." I overheard.

"Alright darling let's go." My mother announced herself. He turned around after shooing the elf away, and looked at me slightly stunned.
"Pen, you look beautiful." He said. My fathers always called me Pen since I was a baby.

Mainly because he thought I looked more like a Penelope to him but my mother insisted on Serene because of my great grandmother.
"Thank you dad." I said hugging him. "Your mother's necklace suits you." He smiled at me.
I smiled back as I held it, "I know right."
"Alright enough you two, we need to go." She interrupted.

My father rolled his eyes playfully at me and walked over to my mother taking her arm. We were a happy family. Our dynamic wasn't uptight or too strict, even though my mother can be a little to much sometimes. My parents never argued, they adored each other which I envied. And my mother never yelled, he'd never yelled at me or my mother or anyone. He was open hearted but stern on the inside.

My mother, she was always very open and loud about her feelings. She was a cunning but kind, but could also be very verbal about things. I remember hearing her yelling at an elf when she caught them snooping through her jewellery box. She was horrified and made it clear how she felt. My father tried to calm her down but she couldn't.

When we got to the MALFOY Manor my mother greeted Miss Malfoy like a long time friend. I guess they were long time friends, they've known each other since their Hogwarts days but it was weird seeing my mother act like that with Draco's mum.
"Serene darling, wonderful to see you again!" She came over and hugged me. I hugged her back, awkwardly at first but I felt comfortable since she smelt really good.
