My dorm door was burst open without a single knock. I get up angrily because I could have been naked or with someone, but my anger fades into worry when I see Serene there, mascara staining her pink cheeks and her eyes bloodshot red from crying. She starts to sob and I instantly run to her aid wrapping my arms around her bring her close to my chest. I can feel her tears drenching my white shirt as she's crying her heart out. She's never cried like this before.

I guided her towards my bed so she could sit, but all she did was bury her head into my chest as she was crying hysterically. I felt so bad for her, I wonder what he's done to her now to make her cry like this. "Serene, what happened?" I ask her quietly. She slowly lifts her head up sniffs. She takes a moment to collect her breaths but she's shaking, "I-I can't believe what I saw Draco." She starts.

I remain silent, waiting for her to continue. "James. He's a lier and a cheater and he played my heart." She says her voice breaking into sobs. I slowly cover my mouth as James was caught. He was supposed to tell Serene. But instead she caught him in the act.
"Serene, it's okay.." I say quietly as I play with her hair to comfort her. I notice her sobs start to get quieter until she was silent. Only her soft breathing.

I slowly lift her head up and she's asleep. She cried her self to sleep over a dirtbag like James. I scoffed, angry that he could even think about hurting Serene like this. Wasn't he her boyfriend? James was supposed to be in my position, but no. He fucked up, and now Serene was sleeping in my bed.

I decided to take the couch as I wanted to give her some space.

The next day Serene was anything but herself. She wasn't her happy sweet self Serene anymore, instead she was cold bitchy Serene. She was snapping at people for the smallest things, she yelled at Theodore for laughing earlier today.

Everyone knew that James and Serene had broken up, it spread like fire. People were whispering and gossiping to eachother about things that didn't even involve them. "Everyone just needs to mind their own business." She said as she held her books close to her chest. She was walking beside me the whole day. I think she was using me for comfort and support in some sort of way.

"It's okay, just ignore what everyone's saying about you." I tell her. She scoffed as she looked up at me, "Not when my names on everyone's tongue. I'm the one who got cheated on, why am I being shamed?" She snapped at me. I gave her a look, I didn't like being snapped at.
"Sorry." She mumbled. "I'm just glad that I don't need to stress and worry about a boyfriend, and I can focus on myself now." She says with a bit of hope in her voice. That's the happiest she's sounded all day.

That was until Pansy and Astoria came along, "Serene, I am so, so sorry that James would cheat on you." Pansy started. Serene didn't bother saying anything. She just looked at Pansy bored and annoyed. Astoria cleared her throat, "I mean, crazy right?l" she dragged it. Serene rolled her eyes,
"what do you want?" She cut her off.

Astorias fake smile faded into her tight lipped expression, "A chat. I want to talk to you." She says.
I look at Serene as she's hesitant, "It'll be 2 minutes." Astoria says. She hands me her books as she gives in, "Fine."

Astoria and Pansy lead her to a wall amongst the busy students. "Since you're single, I just want to get something off your chest." Astoria starts. She raise raised eyebrows, "And what's that?"
"You don't have a chance with Draco, so you might as well stop trying to get with him." Astoria states.

"And James cheated on you, which probably means that you were t good enough, because you're not." Pansy adds. Serenes fits clenched together hard as she glared at them both. "You know what," she starts. "I don't give a flying fuck about what any of you think of me because I don't live for other peoples approval, including a boy." She yelled at them both.

With that she stormed away, Pansy and Astoria laughing as people were whispering even more than before. "Serene-" I yelled for her as she walked past me. She was clearly upset, trying to calm herself down before she broke down in front of everyone.

I grabbed her wrist after I had caught up to her and pulled her in the direction of the astronomy tower. "You can let it out up here, not out there." I say to her as I lead her up the stairs.
She's sniffiling as she's trying to control her emotions, "I'm not going to cry." She says, but I know she's on the brick of breaking down.

Once we get to the top we sit down on the floor and she instantly starts crying. I wondered if she was crying because Astoria and Pansy said that I'm not open for her, but as she looked up she shut that thought down. "Was I the problem? Did I do something to make James not interested anymore?" She sobs.

I shake my head, "No, James is just.." I trial off, not being able to finish my sentence. She looks up at me:

"What, James is what

"What, James is what." She asks, more like demands. I sigh as I don't want to say the wrong thing, "He's an idiot Serene."
She sinks a little, her poster slouching. She looked up at me with her eyes, "Do you have anything?" She asks, obviously hinting to cigarettes, or weed.

I go into my pocket and pull out a pack of cigarettes. I open it and she takes one and puts it inbetween her plumped pink lips. I open my lighter and put it below the cigarette. Our faces were close to each other. I could hear her breathing, I hoped she couldn't hear my heart pounding.
She looks up at me with her blue eyes as she leans back in healing the cigarette. "James's lighter never worked, but yours always does." She says through an exhale.

I smirk a little to myself, "His is cheap." I mumble before putting the cigarette into my mouth. She quirked a smile as she heard that. "I heard that." She says under her breath.
We both just sit there in each others company, we skip the rest of the lessons of the day as Serene wasn't up to it and I didn't want to leave her alone, even though she had both Daphne or Sophia.
But I knew she couldn't stand the thought of people talking about her behind her back.
