I felt like an object. I felt like an object that Serene could use when she was upset or needy. Everytime her and James had an argument she'd come banging at my door and running into my arms, asking me if she could stay the night and that she just needed someone.

"I just need someone to hold me." She would say quietly through sobs. And I was there, I didn't like being that person but I could never say no, because deep down I liked having her in my arms. But then, the next day she was back in his arms and I was back aimlessly fucking some chick again. But i never complained.

And the cabinet, it wasn't coming along to well. My father would send my letters asking me how my task was coming along and he would remind me of the consequences. And Snape wasn't making things any easier too. No one could know about what was going on, I just wished I could tell someone. But I can't because no one can be trusted. Not even Serene.

The slytherin table was packed as students were eating lunch and conversing with one another. I was trying to drown out all the noise of Blaise and Theodore arguing about quidditch. Astoria talking in my ear, and Serene and James.

They were laughing with one another, holding hands like always. Sophia sat down with a tray of cherries, "Oh! Cherries, my favourite!" She leaped up as she leaned over the table for them. I knew cherries were her favourite, I bet James didn't know that. She turned and gave me a look.

"She isn't talking your ear off is she?" She whispered into my ear

"She isn't talking your ear off is she?" She whispered into my ear. I chuckled as I nodded, "She always is." I replied back. I could sense Astoria over my shoulder, staring hard at Serene. She went back to James and 5 seconds of peace were over as Astoria was back ranting in my ear.
"She needs a hair brush." She mumbled.

I whipped my head in her direction, "Her hair looks fine." I snapped. She looked at me confused, but she shrugged it off. In fact, Serenes hair was more then fine, it was perfect. It smelt of vanilla and honey, her scent was always in my nose.

And the way it bounced when she walked, it was long and soft too, it rested right at the bottom of her lower waist. Brown dark hair that complimented her ice blue eyes.

After I had finished day dreaming about Serene I got up and left to continue you off my unfinished task. My main task was to kill dumbledore, but I was holding that off since it wasn't as easy. I mean, I tried to assassinate him, but that just ended badly. With me trapped in the hospital wing for weeks.

Instead, my main focus was on the cabinet that I had to fix to allow the death eaters free entry into the school. It was a hard task and nothing was working. It was taking me ages to complete and every meeting I had to give Voldemort the bad news, my father always felt embarrassed after. When the doors were shut and it was just me and him in his study he'd hit me, to punish me and threaten me. I never told anyone about it though, my worst nightmare is to look vulnerable and weak.

________

It was late after I had had my session in the room of requirements. Still unsuccessful and my blood was boiling in anger of my failed attempt. But I saw something in the corner of my eye as I crossed a dark hallway. It was late, and I mean really late. The school was dark, the only light source being dimly lit candles, but I was able to see two figures running into a classroom. At first I expected it to be a younger couple having some alone time. But I could recognise that blond hair anywhere.

I stopped in my tracks and for a split second I saw his face, James Cross. Kissing some brunette girls neck. First of all, it for sure wasn't Serene. I knew her figure and hair from a mile away. This girl was far to skinny, and her hair didn't even reach her elbows. And most of all, she was eating a blue tie, Ravenclaw.

James Cross was a certified cheater. And he'd seen me. He saw me and I saw his face turn white. Like he'd seen a ghost. I would have gone to confront him, but this wasn't my business, so I walk away towards the dungeons.

______

Today was Saturday, and everyone was either out with their friends or studying. Meanwhile I was in my room doing lines as I was alone, and bored. Astoria was away from me for once, probably with Daphne. And the boys were at quidditch practice. But then I heard a knock on my door. I quickly hid my substances before walking towards my door. But when I opened it, it wasn't who I expected to see.
"Draco, can we talk about what you saw... last night?" James said quietly.

"Why are you at quidditch practice?" Was the first thing I asked him. Pretty silly that that's the first thing that came to my mind. "I told coach that hurt, he gave me a day to recover." He replies. I don't say anything after, we just look at each other till he clears his throat awkwardly.

"Can I come in, I don't really want to talk about this in the middle of your doorway." He says. I allow him inside and he sits on my bed. I sit beside him and turn to him, "Can you please not tell Serene anything?" He says, his voice was pleading. I barely look at him as I pull out a cigarette, "What do you mean?" I say putting the cigarette inbetween my lips.

"You saw me, and this 5th year Ravenclaw-"
"She was a fifth year?" I blurted out. He nodded before saying, "I just, don't know what came  over me."

After lighting the cigarette, inhaling the toxins and blowing them up into the air I turned to him, "Is this the first time you've cheated on her?"
He slowly shakes his head, "No, this happens several times." James responds.

Am I to even be surprised, look at him bloody hell of course he'd cheat, of course he'd think Serene Sinclair wasn't enough. "What, was Serene not enough for you?" I ask. Be he scoffed, "She's more than enough. I just... she..." he stops talking as he trails off.

For the first time ever, I actually feel bad for James. He was a cheater, but I could tell that he didn't want to be. I patted him on the back as I handed him the cigarette, he took it without a second thought. "I won't tell her. I'll leave that to you." I say as he inhaled it. But chuckled as exhaled it, "Oh, no she won't be knowing about this. This stays between you and me."
