Fifteen minutes had never felt so long, and Y/N was growing anxious with every minute that went by. Her sister had agreed on looking for the book and delivering it to the building as soon as she found it. And now they were waiting for it in the hall.

“We know what the book is. The Collector by John Fowles.” Reid said as they came across Gideon and Hotchner.

“Are you sure?” Gideon questioned.

“Not absolutely, not until we see if the code works, but someone’s bringing it here.” He answered.

“Well done, Reid.” Hotchner told him.

“Well, it wasn’t just-“ Reid tried to say in an effort to give his new colleague some credit, but another agent interrupted him calling out for Gideon.

“Agent Gideon, there's a call for you on line two. He says it's extremely urgent.” She said.

“Is there a name?”

“Sort of. He calls himself the Fisher King.”

“This could be the unsub, guys.” Reid told them.

“Why?”

“In mythology, the Fisher King is the Grail King. And Sir Kneighf is an anagram for ‘Fisher King.’” He explained. “Fisher King's at the end of all Grail quests.”

“Line two trapped and traced.” Said Hotchner waiting for Gideon to finally answer the call.

“Gideon.” He said.

“What I had to do was not my fault!” The man at the other end of the line said.

“Excuse me?”

“It was distasteful and barbaric!” He added.

“Who is this?”

“No one else had to be hurt!”

“You call yourself the Fisher King?” Gideon questioned.

“I told you there were rules!”

“I'm actually more interested in exactly how you got all those burns.” Gideon said letting the man know they had some sort of idea of what he looked like.

“Remember this next time you decide to step outside my instructions. Agent Greenaway did not have to die like that.”

“What?” Y/N mouthed in silence at the shock of they had just heard. The group silently staring at each other completely baffled by his words.

“Do you think it was my fault?” Y/N asked no one in particular as the guilt suddenly started to weigh her down.

“No.” Gideon told her before weaving a sigh. “He couldn’t have known. It was my fault. It was the press conference.”

“Anderson?” Hotchner said, taking a couple steps back to answer his phone. “Alright, I’m on my way.” He said hanging up. “Greenaway’s at the hospital right now. She’s under surgery.” He informed the rest of the group.

“I’m coming with you.” Gideon informed him. “You guy keep working the case, please.” He told them before rushing out.

“It’s not you fault, you know that right?” Reid told her once there was only the two of them again. Y/N simply nodded.

“Agent Y/L/N.” Another agent said carrying her package in his hands.

“Book’s here.” She said reaching for it.

“Wonderful. Let’s go.”

With the book in her hands, Y/N sat at the table ready to look for the different words that would help solve the puzzle. On the other side, before the white board, Penelope awaited to write each oh them down so that they could read the full text at the end.
