Kai fixed his hair in front of the mirror. The lack of sleep was visible in his eyes. All the scenes of last night were spinning in his head. Falling asleep was almost impossible as he couldn't get the picture of Cole moaning in his hold away from his field of vision. Thinking at it now made Kai shiver. He brushed his hair one last time before being pleased with the result and heading to breakfast.

Kai was usually the last one to come eat and this morning was no exception. Everyone else was already there. He arrived at the kitchen table and stayed standing there without a place to sit. Nya was staring at the empty tabletop, clearly half asleep. When she lifted her head and spotted Kai, she greeted him with a tired smile and pulled a chair – for God knows where – for him to sit.

Kai sat down and looked around to see what everyone was up to. Lies. He just wanted to see Cole. He spotted him taking a glass from a cupboard, then passing it to Zane who was hustling in the kitchen counter, frying something in a pan and doing the dishes at the same time. There was also Lloyd standing in the middle of the room and rubbing his sleepy eyes, and behind him was Jay walking around with a toothbrush in his mouth.

After a moment of staring Cole's back and imagining him without the black shirt – the same as last night – he had to snap out of the dreamy cloud he was in because Cole turned around and caught Kai staring. The Red Ninja awkwardly stopped leaning on his palms and cut the gaze, changing to look at the fine crumbles on the table.

Zane cut the beeline between them as he handed Kai a bowl of cereal and a glass of orange juice. Kai was thankful that he didn't have to get up and make them himself. Right now, he wouldn't be able to walk a step knowing Cole's steaming gaze would burn on his occiput. He thanked Zane and started eating. Lloyd sat in front of him with a plate of fried eggs.

"Morning," Lloyd's tired voice broke the relaxing atmosphere where the creaking wooden floor and Nya's endless yawning were the only noises.

Cole was the only one to open his mouth and respond the same back. He sat down at the end of the table, the furthest place from Kai, with a magazine and a cup of something steaming hot.

Kai stirred the spoon around the bowl, getting every cereal wet with milk. He was blushing and couldn't keep his smile inside when he thought about last night. Just looking at Cole's direction made his heart do a backflip. Cole looked so fine even in the mornings. Even the strings of hair that had fallen on his face made him incredibly attractive.

Kai didn't have the audacity to eat because he would choke on his cereal as he knew Cole was in the same room probably looking at him behind his piece of paper. He didn't understand how Cole was able to be so calm, not showing anything abnormal in his behaviour, like last night didn't even exist. The thought of it all being just a dream came in Kai's mind again, but he shook it away. He could talk to Cole about it, but it seemed like he wasn't going to say anything. At least not in front of everyone else which was only a good thing.

When he had the courage to finally touch his orange juice, Cole happened to open his mouth. "You look good today, Kai." He complimented, a knowing smirk garnishing his face. Cole placidly flipped through the magazine he was holding in hands and leaned back in the wooden chair as Kai choked on his juice, almost squirting them out.

"You alright?" Nya rose his eyebrows and backed a little in case Kai would spurt some of it in her direction.

"'m fine." Kai wiped his mouth with his sleeve. He had to give a warning glance at Cole, but Cole just raised his head and gave a couple of motions with his eyebrows that were clearly made to irritate Kai.

Kai quickly took his eyes off of him and continued to stir the soggy cereal.

"Aren't you eating?" Nya asked but Kai just shrugged. He wasn't really hungry, but he knew something had to be eaten if he wanted to make it through the morning training Wu had forced them, all the way until lunchtime. Kai listened to Jay and Lloyd's conversation, something about a guest coming later but he was too lazy to ask what exactly they were talking about.
