The Destiny's Bounty appearing in this oneshot is from season 8-12.
Kai was walking from the bedroom of the Destiny's Bounty with Jay, a pleased smile shining on his face. They were on a trip because they had to drop Master Wu off somewhere far away from the Monastery of Spinjitzu. Wu didn't want them to follow him – as it was some kind of secret place – but rather wait and fly around the air until a few days later they would go get him. It was related to his research on some scrolls, as always.
Now the ninja had some spare time to do something fun. Well, Zane said they have to continue their routines as usual. But why would they do that when there's no one watching their doings and anyways they'd be stuck in the Bounty the whole time? That's why Jay had come up with an excellent idea to play truth or dare.
It was raining lightly, and the sun was making its way behind the mountains. The soft yellow sunset light sparkled on the slightly wet wooden floor of the raised bridge as Kai and Jay made their way into the control room of the Bounty.
Cole and Zane decided the place so in emergencies they would be close to the ship wheel and the controls. Also, the rain that barely soaked clothes made a relaxing sound when it hit the roof and brought a lyrical atmosphere to the darkening evening. And like Cole had said: the more enthralling place, the more creative dares.
Apparently, the boredom had woken everyone up from their own doings as all of the others were already sitting in a circle between the controls with huge screens and different coloured and shaped buttons.
Kai sat down between Lloyd and Cole, and Jay settled himself between Lloyd and Nya, giving Nya a peck on the cheek on the way. Pixal had put the Bounty on autopilot, so they wouldn't crash, and now positioned herself next to Zane. An empty glass bottle was already placed in the middle of the circle.
"I think everyone knows how to play but we're playing with my rules, so I'll just explain them to make it clear." Jay said.
Kai's eyes travelled through the room. Jay was looking truly excited, so was Cole who was known to be an extremely good player, or as Jay says, the master of dares. Nya's face was hard and dissatisfied, and she looked like she was forced to be there, as she likely was. Kai himself was eager to play as it had been so long since he last participated in those kinds of games.
"So, one spins the bottle and asks 'truth or dare' from whoever it lands. The thing is that if they do the truth or the dare, the one who gave it has to take a shot." Jay looked around to see the reactions of the other ninja. "Basically, come up with hard truths and dares so they won't be able to implement them, and you don't have to drink. But. If you won't do what you're told to do, someone else can steal your task and do it themselves. Then you have to drink."
"Either way every round someone's going to drink, am I right?" Zane asked with his nindroid voice.
"More likely, yes." Jay answered proudly.
"Where are the drinks?" Cole asked looking around.
A smug smile emerged on Jay's mouth as he pulled two bottles of something strong and a stack of shot glasses behind him. Kai wasn't sure if Jay had had them with him when they had walked in because at least he hadn't noticed them.
"What about Lloyd?" Nya pointed out.
"Hey! I'm not that young. I can handle a drink or two," Lloyd defended himself.
"Not to worry, I've planned everything." Jay chuckled. "Let's just start, shall we?"
Jay reached out to spin the empty bottle. Kai prayed it wouldn't stop at him. Firstly, he didn't quite get the rules but just hoped they'd become clearer when the game gets going properly. Secondly, Kai didn't want to be the first victim.
