Still In There
18 years.
Full of constant hiding, torment, and loneliness. Those 18 years wasn't good for Former Team Sonic. Everyone was fighting for their lives. Eggman was murdered, and his robot army torn to pieces. This is the future Silver always feared would come.
Blaze didn't exactly enjoy it either when she heard the news. The former Team Sonic all split up and deserted each other. Everyday was miserable for 18 years, A.K.A. 6570 days.
Sonic was possessed by an evil demon by the name of Sonic.EXE, it was something Eggman created in order to get Sonic on his side. But Sonic.EXE turned against him and turned into the polar opposite of his heroic counterpart.
Everyone, even Tails, who was Sonic's little-brother figure, gave up on any hope that the azure hero was still in there and gave into despair, even though knowing Sonic wouldn't want that. Little did they know, that was a mistake.
They're not the only ones who gave into despair. Sonic the Hedgehog, who everyone believed would never give up, has done the exact opposite. As the years passed, he started to believe that they didn't care about him after all, and gave up.
When Tails had a not-so-happy family reunion with Sonic, he discovered that his big brother was still in there, he was miserable, and needed to be set free. Here's how it happened.
Tails was gathering tools for his inventions. He tripped and crashed into someone. "HEY! WATCH IT!" Someone said. "I-I-I'm so sorry, sir, I... I didn't see you there. Im so sorry. Wait, you're not a normal- SONIC?!" realized Tails.
Sonic.EXE smirked creepily. "Hey little buddy~!" He teased. "G-Get away from me!" commanded the young Fox, who's blue eyes were widening out of fear. "I can smell your fear..." he revealed. "Great! Now, leave me alone!" He said sarcastically.
"Sonic wants to talk to you, Tails~ I thought we were friends." said Sonic.EXE, teleporting in front of Tails and grabbing him by the neck. "I was friends with Sonic, not with Sonic.EXE!" The two-tailed Fox countered.
Sonic.EXE snarled, offended by that comment. "Hate to break it to you, little buddy, but Sonic is no more!" The killer hedgehog said, throwing Tails to the side. Tails whimpered as he backed away.
Sonic.EXE pummeled him into the wall, but as soon as the last punch got an inch to his face, Tails got the shock of his life as he heard the last voice he thought he would ever hear again call his name...
"TAILS!"
"Sonic?" He asked quietly. Sonic.EXE grunted as he had trouble. Sonic gained control, but only for a little bit. "Sonic, is that-?" started Tails. Something...was different.
Sonic looked scared.
He looked as scared as Tails was during that moment of time. Tails has never seen Sonic like this before. He was scared, frightened, vulnerable, terrified, horrified, and shaking in fear. Nothing good ever came from Sonic shaking in fear.
It either meant that they were on a water-related mission, or something really bad was about go down. Nothing good ever came from Sonic crying either. If he's crying, then Tails knows something REALLY bad happened.
"S-Sonic?" asked Tails. "Tails, RUN! I can't hold it off for much longer!" commanded Sonic. Tails was about to say something back, but Sonic intersected. "GO!" The azure hero shouted. Tails ran away.
Once he got to safety, he processed everything that happened. Sonic.EXE came back and tried to pummel him into the wall. When he got the chance to kill Tails, however, Sonic tried to fight him but ended up losing.
He put two and two together and ended up smiling like an idiot. Sonic was still in there. That wide smile turned into a frown. Sonic was in there. They gave up on him for 18 years. Sonic thought they no longer cared.
"What have we done?" asked Tails. Sonic needed help. Tails's brother needed help. All these years, they've given up on him so easily, without giving Sonic's mental health the blink of an eye.
"I've got to fix this."
