Chapter 3

How It All Began

18 years ago...

"Sonic!"

Racing through the streets, an azure hedgehog that went by the name of Sonic the Hedgehog rushed to help his friends. He saw his little brother, Tails, helping eight civilians. "Are you all okay?!" He asked.

"We are, thanks to you." answered Tails. "What's the situation?" asked Sonic. "Eggman's attacking, and his robots are trashing Station Square." reported Tails worriedly. "Say no more, lil bro. Amy! Help Tails out over here. Where's Knuckles, Silver, Blaze, and Rouge?" asked Sonic.

"Rouge is unconscious and Silver is carrying her to the nearest hospital. Blaze is helping Knuckles defeat all the robots, but I don't think they can hold them off any longer!" reported Amy, coming over to help Tails.

Sonic nodded and ran off, rushing to help Knuckles and Blaze. "Hey, uglies! Pick on someone your own size!" He said as he spin dashed all robots. "What kept you?" asked Knuckles as he punched a robot.

"Oh, y'know. Metal Sonic wanted to pick a fight, but I stopped him, as per usual." answered Sonic. "We're glad you're here, Sonic. Let's stop these guys!" said Blaze. "Ladies first." responded Sonic.

The unlikely trio beat up as many robots as they could, before Silver informed Sonic of something. "Sonic! Eggman's getting away!" said Silver. "Thanks, Silver. You're with me!" replied Sonic, racing past the silver hedgehog, who tailed him.

"Egghead!"

The two hedgehogs found the madman, who turned over with a sinister smile. "Sonic?! Silver?! I didn't expect to see you two here~!" said Eggman maniacally. "You're going down, Egghead!" retorted Sonic determinedly.

"On the contrary, Sonic, you'll be the one to go down this time."

"In your dreams!" challenged Sonic. Eggman sent evil robots to cover him so he could work on some sort of serum. The silver and azure hedgehogs were unsure of WHAT serum it was, but they DO know if Eggman's working on it, it CAN'T be good.

"I take high, you take low!" ordered Silver. Sonic nodded, giving the silver hedgehog a cocky smirk. The psychotic hedgehog with telekinetic powers took the flying robots while the speedy hedgehog with super speed took the land robots.

"All the robots are down, Eggman. You're done." said Sonic. "Go help the others and check on Rouge, Silver. I'll take down this joker."

"I think we all know who's the joker here," said Eggman. He held some kind of syringe, the type used for shots. Eggman hopped into his EggMobile and rushed towards Sonic.

He wouldn't rush towards Sonic for no reason. He may be a madman, but Eggman's not like that. Unless...! thought Silver as he figured out Eggman's plan. "Sonic, wait!!" called Silver, trying to stop his friend.

"HUH!?" asked Sonic, skidding to a stop and turning to his ally. Silver accidentally helped Eggman, who injected something into Sonic's arm. "AUGH!" cried Sonic, collapsing and grabbing his arm in pain.

"SONIC!" yelled Silver, rushing to the azure hero's side. "What did you do to him?" He asked the madman above him. "I only improved him, useless hedgehog. You better run before he stirs." threatened Eggman.

"What do you mean?" asked Silver. Then, he heard evil chuckling from Sonic. Silver sighed in relief, thinking he's okay. "Sonic! You're okay. Never do that again, you hear- oh no." started Silver before he noticed something wasn't right.

Sonic gained bloody spots all over his fur. Silver saw that Sonic had demonic eyes. "Sonic?" He asked cautiously, stepping away from his azure friend.

"Sonic no more..." said the demon. "Only Sonic.EXE!"

Sonic.EXE blitzed the younger hedgehog. In a wave of panic, Silver used his telekinetic powers to freeze the monster. "Sonic, snap out of it!" shouted Silver. Sonic.EXE growled and used a move Sonic once called Parry.

Silver cried out in pain as he landed on the ground with a loud thud. "Silver!" cried a familiar voice. "Blaze? Blaze, stay out of this!" shouted Silver frantically as he noticed the princess. "Sonic, stop!" said Blaze, getting in front of her friend.

Sonic.EXE saw her, smirked, and tossed her and Silver aside. "Blaze, are you okay?" asked Silver. "I'll be fine. We need to stop that thing without hurting Sonic." said Blaze, getting up to face her corrupted friend.

"I know, but how? HE'S wanting to hurt US, Blaze." reminded Silver, getting out of the way of a spindash. "We have to tell the others." realized Blaze. They made a break for it towards the city, where they saved Tails from a robot.

"Silver? Blaze? Where's Sonic?" asked Tails. "Sonic got injected with something Eggman was working on and it corrupted him." informed Silver. "WHAT!?" shouted Tails as soon as Sonic.EXE came along, holding Eggman's head and tossing it aside.

Tails was frightened. Silver and Blaze got into a fighting stance as the cruel demon laughed. "He wanted to control me. Sonic.EXE cannot be controlled. This is what happens when you try and control a demon."

"Sonic, you HAVE to fight it! You have to... AUGH!" started Silver, but he was spindashed by Sonic.EXE. "SILVER! Alright, that's it!" shouted Blaze as she transformed into Burning Blaze. All Sonic.EXE did was scratch his nose, something Sonic always did when he wasn't listening.

"Heheheheh," chuckled Sonic.EXE. Burning Blaze ran at him, tried punching him, but her arm was grabbed. No one could ever do that before, not even Sonic when he's in Super form."How?!" She asked in shock.

"Lemme tell you one thing, princess," started Sonic.EXE. "I. Am. God." He said, choking her to the point she's unconscious and throws her to the side. His ear twitched as he spun behind him.

Tails was beside the unconscious Silver, trying to drag him away from the fight. When the fox noticed the demon saw him, he whimpered and tried to drag him away even harder. Sonic.EXE evilly smirked.

"Hey little buddy~ Where do you think you're going?~" asked Sonic.EXE, flying towards Tails. "Sonic... this isn't you..." whispered Tails, loud enough so the demon could hear him. "You're right, it's not." He agreed.

"IT'S SONIC.EXE."

And in the blink of an eye, everything went black for the fox.
