Nobody's POV

The morning light barely crept through the heavy curtains when Karen woke up. She felt it first—Drew's hands wrapped tightly around her waist, strong and possessive, holding her like she was his anchor. For a moment, a strange comfort flickered, but then her mind sharpened with cold clarity.

Slowly and quietly, careful not to wake him, she slipped free from his grip.

Her feet touched the cold floor. She moved like a shadow—silent and deliberate.

She put on her shoes, her heart pounding so loud it felt like it might betray her.

Then she reached the door and opened it.

But the hallway was lined with men. Too many men.

Her breath caught. They were everywhere—silent, watchful, and clearly waiting for her.

Karen's POV

My heart sank.

How many men did he have guarding me?

Everywhere I tried to go, they were there.

I couldn't wake Drew. Not yet. Not until I was sure I could get away.

I tiptoed back down the hall and slipped into the bathroom.

It was empty. No men.

I peered out the small window.

The night before, it had been locked tight.

But now? It was open.

I hesitated only a second before climbing out.

The cold air hit my face, sharp and freeing.

My feet touched the ground.

I ran.

I didn't look back.

Drew's POV

I woke up, immediately noticing the absence of my baby in my arms.

Anger flared fast, hot and sharp.

I threw back the covers and stormed to the door, barking at the men posted there.

"Have you seen Karen?"

They shook their heads, eyes lowered.

"She might be in the bathroom," I snapped and stormed there.

The bathroom door creaked open and there it was—the window wide open.

My blood ran cold.

I turned sharply on my men.

"You find her," I snarled. "Or you're dead."

They nodded, fear flashing in their eyes.

I didn't wait.

I was already outside, searching for her, my men close behind.

Then I saw her—my baby, running with all the boldness I never gave her credit for.

"Come here," I shouted. "Or this won't end well."

Her eyes locked with mine for a brief, desperate moment.

Then she ran.

I chased.

Faster than I thought possible, I caught up and slammed her down onto the ground.
