Karen's POV

He had just choked me, and the sobs were uncontrollable—messy and desperate, shaking me from the inside out. I curled up in the car, my hands trembling as the tears streamed down my face. I wanted nothing more than to disappear, to go home where I felt safe. But Drew wasn't about to let that happen.

The car slowed, then pulled up to a huge house—a mansion really—with high gates and manicured lawns. It looked beautiful, almost like something out of a dream, but I felt trapped.

I swallowed hard, voice barely above a whisper. "Where am I... where am I sleeping tonight?"

He glanced at me, calm but cold. "In our room."

That simple phrase sent a chill racing down my spine. Our room. The idea of sharing a bed with him—after what just happened—terrified me. I wanted to scream, to run, but my body was frozen.

Drew's POV

After she cried her heart out, I drove her here. The house—the place she would soon call home. The place where she and I would build a life together. A family.

She didn't know it yet, but Karen was about to become my wife. My woman. The mother of my children.

And I was going to make sure she stayed.

Nobody's POV

Once inside, Drew handed Karen a set of night clothes—soft silk pajamas in deep burgundy, delicate but strong like her. He didn't say much as he led her to the bathroom.

She washed the tears and fear from her face, her hands shaking as she scrubbed. Drew followed after, cleaning himself silently, but his eyes never left her.

When she was done, he told her to get into bed.

"You can't escape," he said quietly, voice low but heavy with warning. "I have five men upstairs, five downstairs, and more outside. There's nowhere for you to run."

He sat beside her, watching her eyes dart around the room, the panic still alive but starting to fade into exhaustion.

"You're mine," he said firmly. "Now go to sleep."

Karen curled under the covers. Drew kissed her forehead softly, then wrapped his arms around her waist. Despite everything, she felt a strange flicker of warmth in that moment.

They both drifted off — one to a restless sleep, the other to a cold, calculated plan.
