After a powerful Sunday service, the Clark Sisters were ready for nothing more than food, laughter, and a peaceful afternoon. But peace was the last thing coming.
Out of nowhere, Drew Sheard-Detroit's most feared and powerful mafia boss-appeared, cu...
Karen's POV It 2:00 p.m. when I woke up, sunlight softly streaming through the curtains. The first thing I felt was Drew's hands wrapped firmly but possessively around my waist. I tried to slip free, but he murmured, "Be still, baby. Don't move." His voice was low, calm, but filled with that undeniable possessiveness I both feared and longed for.
After about ten minutes, he finally let me go and got out of bed. I followed him to the closet, where I picked out a stunning red dress that hugged me perfectly. Drew chose a sharp red suit, tailored and bold, his presence commanding the room.
I washed and dressed quietly, then looked to him and hesitantly asked, "Am I going home today?"
He smiled gently and said, "No, baby. Today, we're going out. I want to spend time with my future wife."
His words shocked me, but I kept quiet.

Drew's POV After we both washed and got ready, I led my baby to the car, opening the door for her with a protective smile. She seemed lighter, happier—no longer terrified in my presence.
"Baby, are you hungry?" I asked softly.
She nodded, and I drove us to a restaurant where I'd already made reservations.
We slipped into a cozy booth near the window.
The waitress approached and took our drink orders: a smooth cabernet sauvignon for me, sparkling water with lemon for Karen.
For dinner, we both ordered medium-rare steak with creamy garlic mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus.

Nobody's POV As Karen and Drew ate, the tension between them softened.
Drew asked, "Baby, what was your first impression of me? Be honest."
Karen looked down, then whispered, "I was scared of you. All the stories... I was terrified."
She then asked, "And you? What did you think when you first saw me?"
I smiled warmly. "I thought you were fine as hell, baby. I knew you were gonna be my wife and mother to our kids. I saw how gentle you were with kids, your soft voice... there was so much about you I had to make mine."
Karen's cheeks flushed a deep pink as she shyly smiled.

Mama Mattie's POV I'd been worried about Karen since yesterday. Drew was a man no one dared cross. I wanted to protect my daughter, but I knew better than to fight what Drew wanted.
I called my daughters together. "Let's go out," I said firmly.
They all agreed, and within 35 minutes, we were dressed head-to-toe in red. I wore a crimson dress that hugged my curves, Jacky in a silk red blouse with black pants, Twinkie in a flowing red wrap dress, and Dorinda in a long red gown.
We arrived at the restaurant, and when we saw Drew and Karen laughing and eating just a few tables away, my heart clenched.
