Nobody's POV

It was the next day. The morning sun poured through the windows as Karen got up, washed, and got ready for her day. As she stepped out of the bathroom, her phone lit up with a message from Drew:

Drew:
Be ready, baby. Sheard couples night. 😘

Karen smiled softly and texted back:
Karen:
Ok, I'll be ready.

She headed downstairs and found the Clark family already seated at the table, laughing and enjoying breakfast. She fixed herself a plate, sat down, and joined in the conversation. The room felt light—until Doe noticed her outfit.

"Karen, where you going looking all cute like that?" Doe asked with a suspicious tone.

Karen glanced down at her matching top and jeans. "I'm going out with Drew," she said casually.

Doe rolled her eyes hard.

Karen caught it immediately. "What's your problem, Doe?"

Before Doe could answer, Mama Mattie cut in. "Not right now, girls. Leave it alone."

Mattie turned to Karen. "Where y'all going, baby?"

Karen shrugged. "I don't even know. He said it's a surprise."

Mattie looked thoughtful. "Oh okay... well, be safe."

Doe's POV

I rolled my eyes 'cause I don't trust that man. Point blank. I love my baby sister, and I know what Drew did to her before. Yeah, she's smiling now, but what happens when that switch flips again?

I don't care how rich, fine, or powerful he is. I'm not giving Drew Sheard any passes. Not one.

Karen's POV

Hours passed. It was finally time to go.

As I walked downstairs, there he was—Drew—sitting on the couch waiting on me. He stood the moment he saw me and grabbed my hand.

"Let's go," he said, already rushing me out the door. I barely got to say goodbye before the door shut behind us.

The ride was long, about an hour, and I started to get curious. But then I recognized the neighborhood.

He was taking me to his parents' house.

When we pulled into the driveway, I stepped out of the car and was immediately met with hugs from Mama Sheard and Papa Sheard.

"Mama sheard, papa sheard ," I said softly, hugging them both.

They led us inside, and that's when I saw Gwenda. My face lit up.

"Girl!" I smiled, hugging her tightly.

We started talking right away, catching up as Mama Sheard joined us in conversation. We were laughing and joking like we were all just regular people, not wives of dangerous men.

Nobody's POV

Soon, Drew called out, "Karen! Come eat, baby!"

Karen, Gwenda, and Mama Sheard made their way to the kitchen. The table was already set. They fixed their plates, sat down, and ate together while Drew quietly watched his wife with love in his eyes.

After dinner, everyone helped clean up. Then it was time to leave.

Drew and Karen said their goodbyes and left together, headed straight back to Drew's mansion.
