Theo and Reed's Blessed Groomzilla Event

Chapter Fourteen

The Mystery Hole was not a hole in the ground to Theo's amazed wonder. It was actually a really funky kind of little house that had to be from some type of acid flashback. What ever it was it was fun especially the tour conducted by a skinny bubble gum popping college student who kept eyeing both Reed and Saint to Theo and Matt's irritation. Theo actually got so pissed over the girl's ogling of his man that he pulled Reed to him for the French kiss of both their lives right in front of the girl. After all Theo had a claim of several years and a child ( who was currently gagging over his parents kissing ) on Reed Fisher. The French kiss was actually the high point of the visit. That and the giggles of Saint and Reed as they both struggled to get up from the weird sofa in the terminally slanted room. " I knew I would ultimately win being so close to the ground," Theo teased but Reed got his revenge by buying Theo a tie dyed souvenir tee shirt that said I Survived The World Famous Mystery Hole ! and making Theo wear it. It was really comfortable though.

After the mystery hole the kids were hungry again so before the long drive back to Rocky Creek they stopped at a little roadside diner for something Dennis called a pepperoni roll. It turned out to be globs of meat and cheese and sauce all wrapped up in a big piece of thick dough. It was the most delicious thing Theo had ever put in his mouth. And that's what he told Reed as he greedily finished it off. Reed had given his husband a playfully hurt look.

After they ate everyone went to use the restroom in preparation for the long car ride. Except for Matt who was attempting to sweet talk the diner owner out of the pepperoni roll recipe. No luck there to Matt's disappointment but he swore he could reproduce it easily anyway.

Theo and Winnie were waiting for everyone outside. Winnie was vaping and looking nervous still.

" The vape isn't working," Winnie said testily. " Planning a wedding is nerve wracking. So is being in a place where people hate you. "

Theo reassured his surrogate son that nobody could possibly ever hate him and Winnie snorted. Then Theo saw something that caught his eyes. It was a a man in a red baseball hat and big sunshades that kept staring at Winnie. The way he looked at the young man made Theo very uneasy. " Do you know that man , Winnie? "

Winnie looked at him with a surprised expression on his stressed face. " No. Prob just family of Dennis'. He has kin all over this state. They probably all hate me too. "

Not a good thing to say because Dennis was coming out the diner and overheard his fiance.

" My family doesn't hate you, Winston! " Dennis looked very hurt and confused. Theo saw an equally hurt look on Winnie's face as he retorted," You could have fooled me, Dennis Davis! I'll be in the car! "

Winnie went to sit in not Dennis' car but Reed and Theo's.

Dennis looked at Winnie silently before saying," I'm going to lose him , aren't I, Theodore? " He looked like he wanted to cry.

Theo shook his head of thinning brown hair with streaks of grey. " Don't be ridiculous. Winnie can be a bit emotional at times. You know this. And when stressed it's even worse. He adores you. Don't worry. "

" Worry about what? ," Reed asked as he came out with a sleepy Benji by his side. Benji would sleep tonight. He swung one arm over Theo's shoulders, the other over Benji's.

Dennis looked at the family. He smiled wistfully. " Worry about how someone like me ever got someone like him to start with. "

Then he went to his own car and sat quietly.
