The Queen and her children were returned to their castle where the Queen of Ev was crowned the ruler of the Land of Ev. Meanwhile, Dorothy and her friends were returned to the Emerald City, which now had its green glow back as all the emeralds had been returned to their rightful place.
Before they entered the gates to the Emerald City, Glinda realized that her girl soldiers were never found. They all looked at each other confusingly when Billina, who was perched up on the chariot of Glinda's that had been returned to Oz alongside the group, noticed about 30 green ornaments lying in the chariot. The ornaments ranged from medals to glass figurines had to be Glinda's soldiers. Now that Glinda was back in Oz all her powers were back. So all she had to do was wave her hand and all 30 of those ornaments transformed into her girl soldiers standing before her. They all looked around to their surprise to find they were back in Oz, and Glinda filled them in on what happened at the castle of Queen Roquat.
The group led by Ozma was welcomed back in to the city where they were met with a great applause from the people.
That evening there was a parade and a grand reception in the royal palace, attended by the most important persons of Oz, and Dorothy and her friends stood beside Ozma as she was recrowned the ruler of Oz. Ozma then signed a decree reversing all of Mombi's laws and proclaiming equality in the great land once again. Speaking of Mombi, she had been returned with the others to Oz still in her cage. Now she was being paraded before the citizens of Oz she once oppressed. Ozma chose to forgive Mombi for all she did to her, saying "A witch with no magic is a miserable creature indeed."
As they stood before her, Ozma presented Dorothy and her friends with rewards for freeing her and the land of Oz. She presented 31 magnificent gold medals set with precious stones to Glinda and each of her thirty girl soldiers; and the Tin Woodman was given a new axe studded with diamonds; and the Scarecrow received a silver jar of complexion powder. Dorothy was presented with a pretty coronet and made a Princess of Oz, and Tiktok received two bracelets set with eight rows of very clear and sparkling emeralds. For the Gump, he was given an emerald-studded necklace. For Jack Pumpkinhead, whom Ozma had created and brought to life, she gave him his own room in the palace.
Afterward they sat down to a splendid feast, and Ozma put Dorothy at her right and Billina at her left, where the hen sat upon a golden roost and ate from a jeweled platter. Then were placed the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and Tiktok, with baskets of lovely flowers before them, because they did not require food. Glinda and her thirty girl soldiers, were at the lower end of the table, and the Lion and the Tiger also had seats, and were served on golden platters, that held a half a bushel at one time.
The wealthiest and most important citizens of the Emerald City were proud to wait upon these famous adventurers, and they were assisted by a sprightly little maid named Jellia Jamb, whom the Scarecrow pinched upon her rosy cheeks and seemed to know very well.
