"So, why is my surprise..."
The four who travelled all the way from the middle of Shinjuku to Nakano looked up at the six story high apartment building standing tall before them, and Kikka's sour expression stood out among the rest.
"...exactly where I live?!"
"Oh god, he really is gonna catch a case..." Harui facepalmed. "They let you send stuff outta jail, right? Can you mail me some soba from there?"
"I need you to stop talking." Nozomi deadpanned, his hands stuffed in his pockets. "You'll see. Come on, we still aren't there yet."
"Kikka-san, cheer up." Yukie said with a reassuring tone, placing one of her hands on the redhead's shoulder. "If it's a surprise by Nozomi-san, then it'll have free cards included at the very least."
"Free cardboard is free cardboard, right?" The white haired asked with a cheeky grin. "If the cards suck, you can just sell them off for some better ones."
"As if I'd buy someone cards after the way they insulted my dinosaurs..."
"You're still hung up on that, old man?!"
"I'm taking it to my grave!"
"Which you'll be in next week! Your life is too short for so much spite."
"Put a sock in it, you two!" Kikka scowled. "Let's get this over with, I don't wanna be here more than I have to."
"That's not what you wanna hear..." The blonde sweatdropped. "Which floor is yours, Kikka?"
"My mother's apartment is on the fifth floor, why?"
"Fifth floor? Good enough. Come on, this is gonna blow your mind!"
Guided by Nozomi, the party made its way into the building, and subsequently, into the nearest elevator, but their destination was not the floor where Kikka resided.
Their ascending journey came to an end moments after it began, when they reached the second floor, and then it was back to walking. The three girls followed the young man to the door of an apartment, one which he opened with the keys he had in his pocket.
"Welcome!" Nozomi declared, holding the door for the other three to walk in.
What stood past that door was an apartment, go figure, but it already had furniture and was ready for someone to live in it.
"You got me an apartment?!" Kikka exclaimed. She speed walked from one part of the large living room to another out of sheer excitment.
"As if." Harui deadpanned and looked over at the blonde. "What's the behind the scenes?"
"Behind the scenes?" The redhead asked, quickly joining the others. "Don't me there's some crappy catch!"
"My common sense made me do a rash decision regarding someone who does them for a living..." Nozomi sweatdropped. "Truth be told, I got this place for Midorin. She's coming to Tokyo and needed a place to stay, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and get one close to Dogma. That way I could crash here if I ever spent the entire night fighting there."
"But?" Yukie asked.
"She forced her way into crashing on my place... After my name was on the ownership contract of this apartment... It was either that or her no coming at all."
The three girls shared a few glances at each other. Their looks were all the communicating they needed to do. They ended up sharing a laugh and patting Nozomi on the shoulder.
"What a stand up old man you are, Nozomi! Going out of your way to help Kikka dodge her crappy mom! Maybe it's time I gave you some proper credit!"
"You rock, Nozomi-san! I promise I won't let you gift go to waste! I'll run this house like a proper adult!"
