Chapter 9

So, my family and I finally made it to Cypress Hill Restaurant for lunch to celebrate my father's Birthday. Fatima: "Daddy, again, I just want to apologize for not letting you and Mommy know that I have Cancer. I know that telling you all that I did not know how to break the news to you is no excuse. You, my parents, had the right to know as soon as possible. So, from here on out, regarding my health moving forward, you all, including Nissa, will be in the loop. You have my word on that, I promise.

Jason: "Fatima baby, I understand that you did not know how to let me; and your mother and sister know of your diagnoses; we all understand that this cannot be an easy situation for you to be going through right now, being so young but you are a Wilson, my sweet girl you will get through this, and we are going to be by your side always."

Mona: "Fatima, your father is right. Please do not continue to beat yourself up over what has been done; we cannot change it. Like you said, moving forward, you will keep us updated on your health, and that's all that matters to us right now."

Nissa: "You guys can give Fatima a pass all you guys want, but I'm mad as a motherfucker that you kept this a secret from me, Fatima Anissa says." Fatima puts her head down in shame. She thought her sister had every right to be upset with her.

Mona: "Nissa, that's enough. Your sister has apologized for keeping us in the dark. Right now; is not the time to ridicule her, but we need to surround her with as much love as possible."

Anissa rolls her eyes at this point and says nothing further. The Wilson family continues to have dinner and enjoy each other's company and tabling the topic of Fatima's cancer for now. After having a wonderful lunch, the family makes their way back home. Fatima realizes she is pretty tired and must rest for a while.

Fatima makes her way upstairs and grabs some comfy clothes to change into after she takes a shower, but before she does that, she decides to call Angela.

Siri calls Angela. Fatima says to her iPhone Okay, dialing Angela. Angela picks up on the second ring.

Angela: "Hey, Bestie, how is your visit home?

Fatima: "Girl, the worst."

Angela: "What are you talking about? The worst is you're there to celebrate your father's 50th Birthday. What could have gonna wrong?"

Fatima: "Well, how about my sister coming into my room, finding me unconscious, and being in a coma for a damn week."

Angela:" Shit bitch are you okay? What did your parents say about how you are feeling now? Fatima, damn, say something."

Fatima: "Angela, maybe if you slow the fuck down, I can answer your questions, damn." Fatima says, laughing.

Angela: "You're right."

Fatima:" So, as I was saying, I'm okay. I guess right now, I'm just extremely fatigued. My parents were devasted that I did not tell them from the beginning. They say that they understand why I did it but it still does not make me feel any better, and Nissa is so pissed with me right now, but I completely understand her point of view."

Angela: "Well, Fatima, you know how Nissa can get, but I told your ass months ago that you needed to tell your family what was going on."

Fatima: "Angela, I know, but I haven't been ready to tell them yet. I did promise them from here on out that they would know what was going on immediately with my cancer as soon as possible.

Angela: "Okay. That's good to know, so what are you about to do now, best friend?"

Fatima: "Well, as I mentioned, I'm tired, so I'm about to shower, get in bed, and rest for a while."

Angela: "Okay. Get some rest. Let me know when you are back on your way to Atlanta."

Fatima: Okay. Bestie, I will. I promise.

Fatima and Angela finally say their goodbyes, and Fatima gets her things together to head into her shower. She grabs her comfy clothes and her favorite scented bath wash, and she proceeds to go into the bathroom, set the shower to the temperature she likes, and gets in. Fatima thinks to herself something has to give God.
