Yes, Angela, I know that. I cannot ruin my dad's day by informing him and my entire family that I have Cancer and I'm dying. Where do they do that at, Angela?Angela: Rolling her eyes. Fatima, you cannot keep going around not telling your family about your health condition. What if something happens to you, and they don't know that? Angela says? Fatima: "Angela, I hear what you are saying, but I'm just not ready to shatter my family's lives like that." Fatima, I'm here for you whatever you decide, but I do know they need to be told, and they need to be notified soon.
Alright, Angela, damn, I'm tell them soon Fatima says. Okay, bestie, you know I'm just looking out for your well-being is all best- friend. Yes, Angela, I know I will tell them because they're my parents, and they have a right to know. I'm their daughter. I guess, to be honest with you, I'm just scared. I never imagined in a million years I would have Cancer and be dying before my life truly began.
Angela: Sis, I know you are dealing with so much right now, but remember, you do not have to deal with this unfortunate situation alone. You have me and your family here to support you through it all.
Fatima: Yes "Thanks girly. I love you so much. Angela: I know you better. Fatima and Angela finish their conversation until Fatima makes it home. Well, best friend, let me get into this house and finish packing for my trip, and I will call you later. Okay, girl, call if you need me. I will Fatima response and disconnect the call. Fatima entered her home and headed upstairs to her bedroom to finish packing for her trip. Fatima grabs her toiletry bag and places all her essentials in it. She goes to the medicine cabinet and makes sure she has all the medication that she needs. Fatima makes sure she has her Olaparib; she double-checks to ensure she has her vitamins and herbs.
Once Fatima had everything packed and ready, she took her bags to her car. She goes back inside the house to make her a quick meal before heading to the shower. While getting her night clothes together for the evening, she experiences sharp pains in her abdominal area. Fatima: "Oh shoot, please, not right now. Bending over, Fatima makes her way over to her bedroom and lays on the bed to try to relax to help the pain subside. Oh God, please help me; while Fatima is crying in unbearable pain, she gets a call on her cell phone from her mother.
Damn it, Fatima says she reaches over to grab her phone before the call disconnects. "Hey, Mommy, how are you?
Mona: Hey, sweetheart, I called you to see if you were still coming home this weekend?
Fatima: "Now, Mommy, you know I'm coming home for Daddy's birthday; you know I wouldn't miss his 50th birthday for anything in the world Fatima says. "
Mona: I know you wouldn't, baby. I was double-checking. I understand, mama. I'm so excited to see you and Daddy this weekend. It's been so long. Mona: "Your father cannot contain his excitement that you will be coming home to spend quality time with your family. Fatima: Laughing, I'm so glad Daddy is happy. Is everything ready for Dad's surprise party? "Mona replies, "Yes, everything is all set for your father; we are having dinner at his favorite restaurant, Cypress Hall. That's great, Mommy; Daddy loves that place; they have the best Chicken Marsala.
Mona: Okay, baby, I'm letting you go so you can finish getting ready for the trip. Let me know when you are heading to the airport in the morning. Fatima: Alright, Mommy. Have a good night. I will see you guys tomorrow when my flight lands. After Fatima ends the call with her mother, she realizes during the conversation with her mother that the pain has subsided drastically: thank you, God. Fatima was finally able to get in the shower. Once she completed her nightly routine, she got in bed, said her prayers, and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
Fatima woke bright and early Friday morning to head to the airport. She got up, showered quickly, and put on a comfortable two-piece legging set for the flight. She grabbed her phone and texted her mother, letting her know she was headed out the door to get to the airport. Her flight was at seven, and it was now 5:30 am, so she had plenty of time to make it to the airport. Fatima got in her car and made the 30-minute drive to the airport. She makes it through the check-in process, and the ticket agent leads Fatima to her seat on the plane. Fatima got in her chair and got comfortable for the one hour and fifteen-minute flight. Fatima decides to get some sleep because she is not feeling the best. She quickly texted Angela to let her know she was now on the flight and that she would let her know when she landed.
Fatima is awoken by the flight attendant announcing that they have landed in North Carolina. Fatima managed to grab her luggage and quickly made her way out of the airport. She gets in the rental car that she rented for her weekend trip and heads straight for her parent's home.
