Fatima was extremely nervous about today. Today was Fatima's meeting with Doctor Stevens and his colleague about the next steps in her treatment process. She was back home from her trip to visit her parents and sister and let's say it did not go as expected. Famita was second-guessing a lot herself by not confiding in her parents from the beginning when she was first diagnosed with Cancer. She thinks to herself that there was a better of them finding out than finding her passed out in her childhood bedroom for sure. She did not know how to tell them the heartbreaking news. Fatima still could not wrap her head around the fact that she had Ovarian Cancer. She kept thinking to herself that there were so many things in life she wanted to accomplish, and this diagnosis was threatening her dreams.
While Fatima was deep in her thoughts, she was getting ready to shower quickly to prepare for her doctor's appointment, which was scheduled for this morning at 10 a.m. While Fatima was preparing for the day, her cell phone started to ring. Looking at the caller ID, she saw that it was her mother calling.
Fatima: "Good morning, Mommy."
Mona: "Good morning, sweetheart; how are you feeling this morning?" her mother asked.
Fatima: "I'm okay, Mommy; I'm just getting ready for my appointment this morning. She tells her mother."
Mona: "Okay, Baby, I didn't want to keep you long. I just wanted to know how you were."
Fatim: "I know Mommy,"
Mona:" Okay, I'm going to let you go to get ready for your day. Please do not forget to call your father and me to give us an update. Do you understand, young lady?
Fatima just smiled, rolled her eyes, and responded by saying yes, Mommy, I hear you loud and clear.
Mona: "Okay, sweetheart. Have a good day, and we will speak to you later."
Fatima: "Bye, Mommy."
Fatima goes into her bathroom and showers quickly. She grabs a simple pair of grey leggings, a navy blue T-shirt, a matching hoodie, and her grey and white Nike Training 5 shoes. She has her phone, charger, purse, and keys. She runs down the stairs to grab a granola bar and water bottle and heads to her car. Fatima finally reached the hospital with about 15 minutes to spare before her appointment with Doctor Stevens.
Fatima parked her car and made her way into the Hospital. She walked in, speaking to those she passed while walking towards the elevator to the 11th floor, the Cancer floor. While riding the elevator to the appropriate floor, she prayed to God to keep her covered. Fatima got off the elevator and walked up to the receptionist's desk.
Walking up to the receptionist's desk, Beth greeted Fatima.
Beth: "Good morning, Fatima; how are you this morning?"
Fatima: "Good morning, Beth. I'm good this morning; how are you doing?
Beth: "I'm here, and I can't complain. Beth said with a smile.
Fatima smiled back and said that's great to hear.
Beth: "Okay, Fatima, let me get you checked in and have a seat for me, and I will come and escort you back when Doctor Stevens is ready for you."
Fatima: "Thank you, Beth.
Beth: "You welcome."
Fatima walks toward the waiting area. She takes a seat. She takes a seat. Fatima waits patiently for Beth to come back and get her to take her to the back. Fatima was in her thoughts and was thinking about what Dr. Stevens could have next for her in her treatment plan because she has already done one round of chemotherapy, but maybe he could want to do a second round at this point. Whatever Doctor Stevens has in store for her, Fatima prays it works because she is not ready to die yet.
Beth: "Fatima, Doctor Stevens is ready to see you now."
Fatima: "Okay."
Fatima gets up and starts walking with Beth to the back.
Doctor Stevens: "Hello, my favorite patient," Doctor Stevens says to Fatima.
Fatima laughs and says Hi. Doctor Stevens with a smile on her face.
Dr. Stevens: "How are we feeling this morning?"
Fatima: "I'm okay. Just a little nervous, I guess." Fatima says, looking downward.
Dr. Stevens: "Fatima, I know this is hard. But I will get you through this. "Fatima looks up and smiles at her doctor, who reminds her of her father in some ways and smiles in his direction. Just when Fatima was about to say something else to Doctor Stevens, there was a knock on the door.
Doctor Stevens, you wanted to see me a young man asked, and when Fatima looked up, she could not believe her eyes. This man was too damn fine for words, she thought to herself with a smile on her face. Then she looked up in his eyes, and he smiled with his pearly white teeth.
Doctor Stevens: "Yes, Nurse Zach, this is the young woman I spoke with you about last week. Miss. Fatima Wilson.
Zach looks in her direction and says yes, Doctor, I remember with a smile on his face, thinking, this girl is stunning.
