Scene 1

It was one of those early mornings, Thomas and Asya Shelby were deep in sleep. Out of nowhere, the sharp, persistent ringing of the telephone sliced through the silence. It was a sound that seemed out of place, too loud and urgent for such a peaceful morning. Both Thomas and Asya stirred, but it was Asya who sprang into action first.

Thomas: Who in God's name...

He mutte-red, reaching for the lamp.

With her eyes barely open, she stumbled out of the bed, her feet padding against the cold floor as she made her way to the living room

With her eyes barely open, she stumbled out of the bed, her feet padding against the cold floor as she made her way to the living room.

She was still in that foggy state between sleep and wakefulness. Reaching the phone, she picked up, her voice heavy with sleep.

Asya: Good morning, this is the, uh, Shelby... something. Who's this again?

The shift was too sudden, too stark. Asya's voice, previously thick with sleep and amusement, sharpened into rapid, urgent Turkish. Thomas could only catch the urgency in her tone, the words themselves slipping past him, unfamiliar and coded in panic.

Asya: Ne? Nasıl şimdi? Tamam, tamam hemen geliyorum.

Asya spoke into the receiver. Her voice trembled, a mix of disbelief and haste. To Thomas, even though the words were foreign, the message was clear in her tone: something was terribly wrong. She turned to face Thomas, her face drained of color, eyes brimming with tears that threatened to spill over.
