Logan pulled up into the parking lot of a miniature Dairy Queen. Fluorescent street lights illuminated the street and parking lot outside. Logan parked and looked back at everyone.

"What do you guys want?" he asked.

Everyone stared back at him and presented him only with silence. He snapped his fingers at us before he spoke again.

"What kind of ice cream, guys?"

"We didn't agree on coming here," Jasper interjects.

"I wanted to treat you guys."

"Oh."

Logan continued to stare at us, expecting an answer.

"I just want a vanilla cone," Maya said.

"Aw, crap," Zahra mumbles, "Just get me a small Butterfinger blizzard."

"I'll just take an Oreo blizzard," I said with a smile.

Logan stared at Jasper, but neither said anything to the other.

"Jasper," I whisper, leaning over so I know he hears me. He looks up quickly, glancing at me and then over at Logan.

"Oh, I don't want anything. I'm lactose intolerant." Jasper finally answered, smiling and defensively waving his hand as he spoke.

Logan stifled a laugh before nodding. He shut the van off and quickly ran inside to order the ice cream.

I looked at Jasper, "Are you really lactose intolerant?"

"No, I just didn't want him spending money on me." Jasper smiled as he responded.

Everyone in the car burst into laughter at his response. Once everyone calmed down, Maya looked back from the passenger seat, "Aren't we supposed to be saving money right now?"

"Yeah, all of that's gonna cost him, like, twenty bucks," Zahra agreed, stifling a small awkward chuckle as she spoke.

Soon, Logan returned to the parking lot, holding an ice cream cone and a cardboard drink carrier with three medium Blizzards inside it.

"Do you think he can even open the door to get in the van?" Jasper asked, turning around to watch Logan approach the car and laughing a bit.

"Probably not," I began laughing along with him.

Everyone quickly unbuckled their seat belts and opened their doors, leaving their things in the van. We all closed the doors behind us and walked up to Logan.

Each of us grabbed our ice cream, and Logan opened the doors to his van. Logan, Jasper, and I stood around the open door of the van while Maya sat on the seat of the van, and Zahra on the floor.

We slowly ate our ice cream in silence until Maya spoke up.

"You know, I enjoy spending time with you guys," she said.

We all nodded in agreement, shoving another spoonful of ice cream into our mouths.

I held up my spoon as I spoke. "Mhm! I love you guys- oh my God, I can't wait for this trip!"

A smile remained plastered on everyone's faces as we continued speaking. The cool air seemed to nip at our faces, and the ice cream certainly didn't help with any intolerance to the cold.

The fluorescent lights from the street lamps and Dairy Queen sign illuminated our faces. Our smiles were on bright display for everyone in our small circle. Silence eventually fell over the group once more.

"We should play Truth or Dare," Zahra suggested. Everyone looked at each other, and nodded.

"Great." She sat her ice cream down and clapped her hands together before she spoke again, "I'll start." She looked at the group before her, quickly trying to assess who she'd ask the age-old question to.
