"Do you like it?" Logan asked, pulling up to a secluded area of land in the forests of Colorado.
"The trees? Sure," Zahra said.
"No-no, everything! Not just the trees."
"Where are we even at?" Maya asked.
"Colorado, duh," Jasper stated with a small laugh.
"We're near Walden, Colorado- more specifically we're in Never Summer Nordic Ranch." Logan stated.
"What does that mean?" Maya asked again.
"It means we're here!" Logan announced as he pulled up to a round yurt in a clearing in the forest.
"This is where we're staying?" Zahra asked.
Logan nodded, "Mhm! Isn't it so cute?"
"Is that an outhouse...?" Maya asked. "That's terrible, oh my God."
"Why?" Logan asked.
"Is there even any running water here?" Zahra asked.
"I think there's a water spigot," Logan questioned himself a bit. "But other than that, no! Isn't it exciting? We get to immerse ourselves in nature!"
I smiled and nodded at the other people in the van. I was met with questioning looks on their faces.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing, it's-" Zahra started to speak before she was interrupted by Maya.
"It's gross, it's small, there's no indoor plumbing, it's just dirt and stuff."
"Oh," I paused, looking down towards the floor and turning around in my seat, looking up at the small yurt in the woods. "I thought you guys would find it cute." I mumbled.
"Oh, Cid," Maya said a bit condescendingly.
"We...each have our own beds this time," I said, trying to sell them on the yurt. "And, we can go fishing and hiking and..." I stopped speaking.
"And?" Maya questioned.
I felt tears well up in my eyes. My friends were disappointed in Logan and I. They were going to hate Colorado, they were going to hate this yurt, and they were going to hate me.
"Cid, it's okay, it's a lovely place." Jasper reassured me.
"Are you sure?" I asked, I felt a tear fall down my cheek, and then another, and another, and another.
Jasper smiled and nodded, "Yeah, let's get in there, okay?"
"Okay," I mumbled, wiping the tears from my face and opening the passenger door. Walking around to the back of the van and opening the trunk to grab my things.
I walked up the small hill to the yurt, climbed up a flight of stairs, and used the key Logan had given me when we checked into the campgrounds to open the yurt.
The small yurt was filled with three bunk-beds, a small table in the middle, a fridge, and a propane stove.
"Cute," I mumbled to myself. I quickly chose what bed I wanted to stay in and put all my things down in it.
Soon, Logan, Jasper, Maya, and Zahra all walked in after me, each of them claiming a bed before we all left back to the van to bring in snacks we had.
"Should we go back through Walden for groceries?" I asked, looking at the sparse amount of snacks we had in the yurt.
"Probably," Logan answered.
