"I kinda miss the zoo," I mumbled to my friends. I was leaning on my arm and looking at the outside world of Wyoming. It had been silent for about thirty minutes, which was quite rare for a van filled with five teenagers.
"Mmm," Jasper hummed to himself, "me too." He was sprawled across the backseat. Leaning against our luggage. I had argued with him for a while beforehand about how unsafe it was, and I think that's what sparked the silence in the car.
"Me three," Logan said. "Zahra's asleep, but I'm sure she'd say 'me four!'"
"Same for Maya, I don't think she'd miss those alligators, though," I said with a small laugh.
"They were crocodiles," Jasper corrected me.
"Oh, yeah," I mumbled once more. I finally sat up and leaned down to pick up a brown paper bag by my feet.
"Yooooo, Cid," Jasper said, getting my attention.
"Hm?" I hummed, looking back at him as I reached my hand into the bag.
"Do you have any more Pop-Rocks?"
"Mmm, do you have any more Chick-O-Sticks?"
He was silent for a minute. "No," he answered.
"Then I don't have any more Pop-Rocks."
"Wha- bro! Just do me a solid and share some Pop-Rocks, please?"
"No, dude, you should've bought yourself more Pop-Rocks!" I argued.
"Please!" Jasper whined.
"No!"
"Why not?"
"Because you've already taken three of mine and given nothing back for them!"
"Guys!" Logan yelled.
Zahra shot awake in her seat, "What is going on?" she mumbled.
Logan sighed. "Stop arguing, you woke up Zahra. Next, you're gonna wake up Maya." He demanded.
"You know why they're so tired?" I asked, looking back at Jasper.
"I swear to God if you say it's because you guys shared a Queen in the hotel, I'm gonna rage," Jasper said.
"It's because we all shared the same bed!" I argued.
"No, it's not! You guys got enough sleep!" Jasper argued back.
"Guys!" Logan looked at us in the rearview mirror.
"Yes, it is! How would you know if it was or wasn't?" I yelled.
"How do you know?" He yelled back.
"Jasper!" Logan yelled a bit louder.
"Because I was with them!" I yelled back, noticing that Maya was starting to stir in her seat.
"Then why aren't you sleeping too?" Jasper argues back.
"Because I never get a lot of sleep, I am fine!"
"Cid!" Logan yelled out again.
"What?" I snapped at him.
"Stop... stop yelling. You woke up Maya..." He said in a more quiet voice.
She yawned and looked over at me. "What's going on?"
Voices overlapped one another as Jasper, Logan, and I began to explain what was going on. Logan had said we were a family before we left for this trip, and we sure as hell fought like one when we were around each other for too long.
