"You should have seen me in my prime, kid. Some people said I looked like Daniel Valdez. Still do, just a little wrinklier version."

I laugh, throwing my head back. I'm convinced Mr. Hart is the best elderly man I've ever met in my life.

We haven't stopped talking since our last Spanish session yesterday, and he offered for us to get coffee this morning. Of course I accepted, and we haven't once stopped talking as we walk down the city together heading to Carter's house.

He uses pretty big words, and I'm impressed for English not being his first language. But we talked about how he was when he was younger, and I learned that he's very, very intelligent. Probably the most intelligent man I've ever met.

"How many languages do you know, Mr. Hart?" I ask.

"In all my years, I've learned twelve languages," he nods his head, leaving my mouth gaping open. "Arabic, Polish, German, English, Chinese, Norwegian, Urdu, French, Russian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Japanese. I often am mostly buried in my textbooks."

"That's beyond impressive," is the only words I can mutter, pure admiration coursing through me. If I knew that many languages, I think I'd be unstoppable.

"It's nothing," he shrugs off. "I take fascination in the world of mathematics rather than the concept of English. I also enjoy computer works."

"You're amazingly smart, it's insane. You remind me of Noah. He denies it but he's incredibly smart with technology."

"The young man is smart, certainly. He just lacks the confidence. He'd also be very powerful if he took advantage of his ability, but I don't see him pursuing that."

"He doesn't like to fight," I comment. "When I first met him, he was very shy. I got him to open up to me, which it makes my heart warm up to get close with that kid. He's been through a lot."

"And I think that's admirable, Violet," he grins at me, making my heart warm up like how I just described. "He's still very shy with others. Hopefully you can help him with that."

"Yeah," I hum, smiling as I look at the sidewalk ahead of me. I take a sip of my coffee.

"What is it going on with you and Isla?" He asks, eyeing me while he also takes a sip of his coffee. "I heard you two almost got at it yesterday morning."

"Oh," I chuckle. "It's nothing. Sometimes she considers me weak because of my ability, but I'm not mad at her."

He smiles sadly. "People used to do that to me, you know. All the time."
