Violet
~ ~ ~

I set the eggs on the plate, only a small portion enough to be full till lunchtime. I set two strips of cooked bacon right beside it, the hot steam coming off from it.

Carter stands right beside me, watching my movements with an intense look in his eyes that I cannot name.

I find my courage and I look up at him, instantly melting when I meet his beautiful brown eyes.

He keeps eye contact with me. He sighs. "I'm proud of what you did, Violet," he compliments, making my heart expand. I smile widely.

He takes a couple steps so that he's standing right in front of me. "But never do that again without my permission."

I nod mindlessly, just wanting to keep him calm in the moment. "I promise," I whisper, my eyes trailing down to his soft lips. I find myself start to zone out of reality, into my world of thoughts.

When he turns away from me, it snaps me back into the real world. I look back down at my plate of breakfast, trying to calm my nerves for what is to come.

I pick up the plate in both of my hands. I start to make my way towards the underground.

I'm nervous as hell.

I don't want to go into Reed's room and feed him. I don't want to see him. I don't want anything to due with the man I hate the most.

I had barely slept last night. I was too busy thinking about the upcoming days ahead. How chaotic they were going to be. How Reed is most likely going to try to escape everyday we have him captive.

Cash nearly sent everyone in a morning panic when he informed everyone Reed was awake. The whole team was waiting, watching for him to try to escape. To fight back, to do anything.

But he didn't. Noah told me he was just sitting there, laying his head against the wall with no emotion on his face.

I didn't want to see him awake. I refused to come down there.

But now I'm forced to with this plate of food. I fear what will happen to me when I unlock his handcuffs.

After about ten minutes, I'm right outside of the corridor, trying to collect my breathing. I watch the others as they stand around wearily, trying to act as if they don't notice me freaking out.

After about five minutes of me trying to prepare myself, Cash heads over to me. "I'm coming with you," he says matter-of-factly.
