Noah
~ ~ ~I stare blankly at the wall above me, the clock feeling like a ticking time bomb every passing second.
I close my heavy eyes, letting out a loose sigh as I try to imagine myself melting in with all the blankets on top of me.
They fly back open when the sound of my alarm buzzes in my ears, making me nearly jump out of my skin.
I groan in frustration, stretching my arm over to turn it off.
I blink a few times, adjusting to the slight brightness coming from the blinds doing a poor job at covering the morning sun, a sight I've grown used to seeing almost every morning.
My eyelids feel a hundred pounds, my body as if it's not my own. But I know even though I desire for nothing but a minute of unconsciousness, I still won't be granted that wish.
My eyes drift over to my closet, and I yawn as they do so.
Through the contentment and relaxation of my body, I force my ligaments to sit and stand from the bed. I stretch my aching and tense muscles, feeling as if I'm a stone statue unable to move.
I walk over into the bathroom, flicking on the light. I tiredly brush my teeth and brush my hair, trying as hard as I can to not yawn again as I do so.
Once I'm done, I stare at myself in the mirror, taking in the strawberry freckles and hair I've unfortunately been troubled with.
I observe the small dark circles under my eyes that has been making its presence known recently.
I blink once. Twice. Three times, just wanting to come in touch with reality for once.
Sleep is a luxury, which I haven't been able to afford.
I've lost track of my days. It seems like a dream is replacing them, as if nothing is real.
If magic curses really existed, insomnia would be the worst of them all.
I rub my eyes, sighing. I pause when I hear two knocks against the hardwood of my bedroom door.
I saunter back into my bedroom, making my way across it to open the door.
I feel excitement stir up inside of me when I see Violet peering back at me.
It slightly fades when I see the facial expression she's been wearing the past couple months.
When I first met Violet, her eyes were always bright with excitement and joy. She was so bubbly, and I wouldn't be surprised if her heart was made out of literal gold when she gave me those homemade cookies.
