"You're seeing him today?" Noah asks nervously, taking a bite of his apple.

"I'm not sure. Maybe." I shrug, narrowing my eyes at him. "Do you need more apples?"

He takes another bite. "Maybe."

I sigh, grabbing my phone from the counter. I'll have to go grocery shopping for him. I need more strawberries anyway.

"I can get more myself, Vi," Noah reassures. "It's fine."

I shake my head. "I got this. I want to since I haven't in forever."

I log into my bank account on my phone, checking my balance to see if I even have enough to get food. I usually do, but sometimes I find myself lacking with money. It's always been a struggle for me.

I check my balance, and I feel my heart drop to the very pit of my stomach.

No.

No way.

My heart is pounding in my chest, and I have to remind myself to breathe as I look down at my new balance.

Six million dollars.

6,005,255 in exact bold numbers.

I rub my eyes, thinking I'm fucking dreaming. This can't be real.

This has to be a mistake.

"Violet?" Noah's concerned voice suddenly pulls me back into reality, which only makes me panic more. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."

I can't respond. I can't do anything but stare at this amount of money I've been granted.

Mason did this, and I know that for a fact.

A wave of anger flows through my chest at that very thought.

Is he insane? How the hell could he possibly give me this amount of money?! I had thought he was bluffing!

Before I know it, I'm pulling up his number that's now in my contacts. I call him quickly, my hands almost too shaky to even click a button.

He picks up on the second ring. "Hi, Violet," he says into the phone immediately, his voice stupidly oblivious.

"Why did you do that?!" I nearly scream, and Noah looks at me with wide eyes.
