The cliff overlooking the ocean was the perfect spot for Obsidian to hide from the world for a while as she tried to make sense of everything that had happened up to this point. Things had been chaotic before Azrael's re-emergence, but at least they somewhat made sense. Now she was drowning in a sea of confusion and couldn't find a way to break the surface. Not to mention he'd taken the one thing from her that no one had the right to take. The amount of anger she felt towards him had begun to affect her mental state and she couldn't seem to focus on anything else but the act of him killing her best friend right in front of her. Though, astonishingly, the pure rage that had consumed her hadn't thrown her into one of her fits so maybe it was a sign of evolution.

Or maybe the debilitating sadness outweighed her justified anger.

It was an eerie feeling knowing that Medusa was no longer of this world. When they fought, all Obsidian could think about was their first meeting and how different their lives had become in the present day. War had been a long, winding path paved with blood and none of them could say they were the same people they were before. She was heartbroken. Medusa had once been a friend even if she had become an enemy in the end. Something about old friendships seemed to find a way to tug on Obsidian's heartstrings. Maybe her sentimentality did make her weak after all...

Her legs swung over the ledge as she tried to find some semblance of peace in her tumultuous life that had been on a downward spiral as of late. She chuckled bitterly to herself and looked up at the starry sky wondering where everything had gone wrong. Was it that day in Vaizel that had been the beginning of the end? Was the short-lived fun that Gloxinia wanted to partake in the source of all this now?

In her heart, she knew it not to be the case and only had herself to blame for the troubles she faced day in and day out. All the fun in the beginning hadn't prepared her for the reality shock that had come so swiftly with a vengeance. All that 'fun' had now been replaced with despair and creeping loneliness.

Meliodas stepped out of the cave into the chilly air, an awkward look to him as he quietly watched Obsidian for a moment. He wanted to make her feel better, but wasn't sure what to say and he was confident he was the last person she wanted to see. Still, he wanted to give it a shot.

"Hey, O—Obsidian." he quickly corrected himself.

"Any other time, you know I would love to throw your bullshit right back at you, but not today." she couldn't even turn around to look at him.

"I didn't come to piss you off."

"Then what did you come for?" she questioned.

"It's just been a couple of days and you've been out here by yourself. I wanted to check up on you." When she gave him a disinterested look, he stuttered over his words. "I'm...sorry for your loss," Meliodas said pathetically, which made her arch an eyebrow in confusion. A faint tint covered his cheeks when she cocked her head cutely. "Isn't that what people say in situations such as these?" he felt embarrassed and tried to get her to stop looking at him.
