"Welcome Lady Anastasia." A silver knight bowed. "Is the Emperor not coming out to greet me?" I asked politely. "...no he never comes to greet guests." The knight chuckled.
"But my name is Francis and I will be your personal guard during your time here." He smiled. "It's nice to meet you sir Francis." I smiled , he held eye contact with me then suddenly his cheeks turned red.
"Shall I give you a tour." He cleared his throat. "I would love one." I responded so then I followed him into the huge Palace. The inside was just as beautiful as the outside. There was many designs and statues. And everything was mostly gold.
"Why are some of the knights wearing golden armour? Are they higher rank?" I asked him as we walked through the hallway since a group of Golden armour knights walked past.
"You don't know what the golden knights are?" He asked and I shook my head. "There's a huge fight to the death tournament thing once a year that his Majesty hosts and whoever wins becomes a Golden Knight. There's about twenty of them right now and they are all very very skilled." He said.
"Twenty?" I said. "Yes but a few of them didn't win the tournament but were just on the same skill level. It's my dream to become a golden knight. Being directly under his Majestys orders seem a lot more better than our annoying commanders who think they are the same level as golden knights." He chuckled.
"Interesting..have you ever talked to the Emperor?" I looked up at him. "I've gotten orders from him but I've never communicated with him before. He's so intimidating and honestly whenever he talks he's either shouting orders at someone or...threatening someone...I just realised I've never heard him actually say something." He laughed.
"Who gives your orders?" I asked him. "My commander Peter. He's so annoying and he tries way to hard to get in the Emperors good shoes to the point it's embarrassing." He said. "But the way the ranks work in the palace , going lowest to highest there's the servants then silver knights then the commanders then the golden knights , then finally the Emperor and Empress." He added.
I slowly nodded my head to the things he said as we walked around the palace. "I'll show you to the training grounds. Where most of the knights not on duty usually are." He said.
A group of maids stared at me the whole time I was going past them which made me uncomfortable. But I figured I would have to get used to it.
We walked through a beautiful garden that was humongous. Not too far away there was a big stone building with wooden doors. I could hear swords clashing.
"Right this way." He directed me into the doors and I was greeted by quite a violent sight. There was a very big sand area and in it were hundreds of men fighting each other.
I looked up and there was a throne in a area above everyone. That must be where Elijah sits. "The Emperor hardly comes here." Francis sighed.
"Can we leave please." I winced looking at the blood being shed. "Of course. Sorry my lady." He said but just as I turned an arrow grazed against the side of my cheek making me gasp and fall on my bottom.
"You Imbecile!" Francis yelled at a man holding a bow. His shout caught the attention of many men who were now looking at us.
I was so embarrassed.
"Sorry." The man looked at me unbothered. "Do you not know what you almost did?" Francis said. "Killed a random beautiful lady who's probably here to become a maid....although instead of becoming a maid why don't you become my wife." The guy smirked.
"James I don't think she's here to become a maid look at what she is wearing. She is obviously a noble." A boy around my age said as I stood up. I wiped the blood off my cheek and sucked a breath in.
"What's going on in here! Why are you all not training!!" A middle aged man shouted. "That's one of the commanders peter." Francis sighed. "I almost killed the lady over there." The man said like it was nothing.
Peter looked back and forth at us then suddenly rushed up to me almost scaring me but then he dropped to his knees. "I apologise for his behaviour." He said and I furrowed my eyebrows.
As he apologised suddenly all the men were staring at us. Well me. "Who is she?" I heard a whisper among them. "You idiot you almost killed the soon to be Empress! Don't you know what his Majesty would do if he found out." Peter stood up then shouted at James." Wait..what?" His eyes widened.
Suddenly doors on the other side of the training grounds slammed open and in came a figure I couldn't really make out. But then the men all started gasping and bowing.
"Francis? I thought you said he doesn't really come here?" I whispered. "He must of heard the commotion." He said back and my palms became sweaty as he walked closer.
When he came into my view I was so intimidated but I couldn't help but admire him. He is by far the most handsome man I have ever seen. Holy.
His muscles were visible through his tight shirt and his eyes darkened when he stood in front of James."Your Majesty I told him-" Peter cut himself off when Elijah shoved past him. "Hm." He hummed then wiped my wound making me blush and wince.
"One of my men did this to you?" He said and I nodded. "My Lady I am so sorry I really didn't mean to!" James fell to his knees beside me. "It's okay it seemed to be an accident." I said quietly.
Elijah scoffed then clicked his fingers. Two seconds later a golden knight who walked in with him grabbed James hair then slit his throat.
I gasped and then turned my head covering my eyes trying not to panic.
"Why do you react like that? Never seen someone murdered?" Elijah said roughly but he was surprised when I turned back at him and nodded my head. He hummed then started walking away.
"He harmed the soon to be Empress. We couldn't let him get away with it just like that , It would damage the title." The golden knight said bowing to me then following Elijah.
What the hell just happened.
