Amy woke up to the sound of gunshots. She had fallen asleep in Ethan's lap with her head on his chest.

Ethan also woke up at the same time and let out a string of curses in Khatkher, the traditional language of Sandonnia. Amy quickly shuffled off from his lap.

"Sorry, darling," Ethan sighed.

The driver knocked on the privacy screen and Ethan pressed the button for it roll down.

"Sir, we're being attacked by Knight soldiers," the driver informed. "What are your instructions for us? They've taken out all of our motorcycle guards."

Amy let out a short scream and then covered her mouth. They were being directly fired at from the air as they drove through a desert.

Ethan looked at Amy and realised what fear was. He feared for her safety. They were safe in the car because it was bulletproof but if they got the tyres, it would create a very bad situation.

"Are you able to see where they're shooting from?" Ethan asked the driver, after trying to see from the back window himself.

"From a helicopter, Sir," the driver answered.

"I need a clean shot to the blades motor," Ethan decided, turning to the guard in the passenger seat.

He turned around to look at the helicopter still shooting our car behind us. Amy couldn't see the helicopter clearly but the guard could from where he was sitting.

"I can see a group of people, Sir," the guard replied. "It's too dangerous for you, Sir. I can strike."

Ethan motioned for him to go ahead. At that very moment, a bullet punctured a tyre of their car and the car came to an abrupt stop. Amy was breathing hard. The driver, guard and Ethan took out and loaded their guns.

Neither of them could see the helicopter anymore.

"Stay in the the car, darling," Ethan instructed.

"Sir, allow me and Rasha to survey the area before you step out," the guard asked.

Ethan motioned for the guard and driver to go ahead and the guards stepped out.

Amy looked behind them. The other two cars were not with them.

"I'm going to call Marcus," she breathed, swallowing. "You call Tyler and see if they're okay."

She received calls and messages from someone but just focused on quickly dialling Marcus's number while Ethan did the same for Tyler.

"Hey sis," Marcus picked up. "You boyfriend failed to mention that we're going to meet lunatics on our trip."

"Oh my God!" Amy breathed, relieved. "Where are you? Are you okay?!"

"Yes, we avoided the conflict by changing route after our motorbike guards got taken out," Marcus informed. "I texted you and called you so many times ..."

Amy checked her phone. He had. The calls and messages were from him.

"It was on silent ..." Amy realised.

"Are you okay, lil sis?" Marcus asked.

Ethan hung up his phone.

"They punctured Ty's car's tyres too, about a miles behind us," Ethan informed Amy.

"Marcus managed to escape," Amy informed Ethan.

"Tell him, do not turn around," Ethan instructed strictly, "and to go to the castle and get men."

"Your family don't know him," Amy said anxiously. "How will he ..."

"The guard and driver are with him," Ethan assured. "He will be fine."
