This was getting ridiculous. Over the years, Kagome had learned to deal with Inuyasha's reluctance when it came to her trips home. Whether he liked it or not, she had responsibilities OTHER than the Shikon jewel.
Now, normally, he would would argue about how she was wasting time and then try to guilt her into staying by pointing out it was her fault the jewel was shattered. That used to work, but she had come to realize that dwelling on that mistake wasn't helping anything.
She had developed a routine when it came to these arguments... but unfortunately, Inuyasha wasn't following the script. "What do you mean no?"
"Just what I said! You can't go!" It was annoying how he thought that just because he said something, it meant she would just follow it blindly. Maybe when she was fifteen, but she wasn't a child anymore, and she was done being treated like one. Inuyasha may have forgotten, but Kagome wasn't from his time. She wasn't his daughter. She wasn't his wife. He had no right to dictate her actions, regardless of what he thought.
Honestly, it was time he understood that. "You don't get to tell me I can't go home, Inuyasha! Kami, we've had this argument so many times already!"
"Keh." Kagomes eye starred to twitch as her annoyance grew. Dog may have been man's best friend, but dog demons were simply stubborn and obstinate.
She couldn't be any clearer in her demands and couldn't understand why Inuyasha couldn't just accept that he wasn't in charge of her life. Yes, she had made mistakes, but she was trying to correct them the best she could.
It's not like he was in it to help her fix her mistake.
No.
Inuyasha only joined her quest because he needed someone to find the jewel for him so he could become a full demon. When he found out Naraku was collecting the shards, he gained another reason for staying with Kagome. If she had the shards, Naraku would surely look for her and give Inuyasha a chance to exact revenge. That's not to say they hadn't built a strong bond over the years, on the contrary. Inuyasha was her best friend. He protected her and loved her.
At least he did, until Kikyo was returned. Ever since then, their relationship had soured. Inuyashas' goal of using the wish on himself had changed. Now, he wanted to wish Kikyo alive again, not caring that in order to do that, she'd need her full soul.
If Kikyo had her full soul, where did that leave Kagome? Inuyasha didn't seem to think about it or care for that matter. Her so-called best friend had made his choice and it wasn't her, so he no longer had the right to even think about telling her what she could or couldn't do and when she could do it.
Inuyasha was oblivious to the inner turmoil of the mikos' mind. He couldn't understand why she was being so stupid! Sesshomaru wasn't someone you could just trust with your closest secret. It gave the bastard leverage he really didn't need.
This is why the wench was always getting into trouble. She was always trusting people who were only out to hurt her in the end.
The irony that he too was someone whose ultimate goal would bring her nothing but suffering was completely lost on him. Instead of seeing reason, Inuyasha crossed his arms and huffed. "Things are different now, so the answer is no."
Deciding the conversation was over, because seriously, what else did the wench want? Just because she was stupid enough to form a friendship with the enemy didn't mean he was just gonna let her tell him everything.
He may have decided the conversation was over for him, but he seriously underestimated Kagomes determination. Not onky was she absolutely OVER his controlling flippant attitude toward her wants abd needs, she was furious that he had the audacity to turn his back on her.
If he thought that he was getting what he wanted by ignoring her, then that sounded like a HIM problem.
"SIT BOY!" Walking toward a now face planted inuhanyu, Kagome let out a growl that would make any yokai proud before reoeasing a verbal assult so vicious that even when the subjugationspell subsided, he stayed on the ground where it was safe. A pissed off Kagome was TERRIFYING.
He couldnt believe how angry she was. Why did she really want to tell thst prick so bad? She was his responsibility because he was the one who brought her back from her tome every time she went home. It wasn't Sesshomaru's place to be anywhere near her like that. He just needed to convince her to keep quiet and...
"It's MY secret, and I'll tell whoever I want to. I'm going home Inuyasha, I'll be back in a few days."Her wirds interrupted his thoughts and replaced them with irritation. She wanted to tell the ice king? Fine! He could be responsible for her stupid clumsy self! If she was done, so was he. "Keh. Don't come crying to me when that prick stabs you in the back!"
"Don't worry, I won't." With a final glare, Inuyasha and Kagome turned away from each other. One walking to fond a half living remnant of the past. The other is walking proudly toward the future.
