Though a full season had passed since joining their group, and knowing the Miko wasn't one for spinning tales; it was still hard to comprehend what she was saying to him.
There was no way this tiny onna was from half a melinia in the future. Could it?Her clothes and manner of speech were odd. She was educated, though she had the mannerisms of a pesant. She was loud, brash, and opinionated, uncommon traits for human women. But to not be from this eea... "Surely you jest."
"Nope." Popping the 'p' sound Kagome smirked before leaning onto the aging wood of the bone eaters well."This unseemingly significant pile of rotting wood is actually a portal that takes me five hundred years into the future."
He could nearly taste the excitement raduating from the Miko. Was this the secret she and the welp argued over? Did the hanyou think him so dishonorable as to use this information against the Miko? The one who had never hesitated to come to his wards aid, even at a danger to herself? Ridiculous.
That she would entrust him with such a secret was humbling in the fact that until her, he had believed time travel was impossible. But if the Miko was saying it was true, then true it must be. "And that is where you originate from?"
"Yup! Five hundred years from now, a huge shrine sits on these grounds. I grew up on that shrine with my momma, brother, and grandpa." The nostalgic look that flickered in her eyes was not lost on him. Did the Miko even want to be here? Or was the whelp forcing her to return against her will, abusing his power as an alpha? "You choose to return here."
It was saud as a statement, but Kagome recognized the question for what it was. Did she want to come back here? Or would she rather go home, seal the well, and pretend the last few years of her life were a fever dream brought on by a gas leak somewhere? It was uncharistically sweet of Sesshomaru to ask her that, and she took a moment to really think before responding to him
Kagome somehow knew that if she told the inu lord that she didn't want to be here, he would make it so she didn't have to be. It was nice to know she had an out if she wanted it. Her mother would be estatic over it. But the truth was she would never be able to live peacefully in her time knowing the chaos she left behind in the past.
"It's my fault the Shikon jewel shattered in the first place. It's my responsibility to find all the shards and fix my mistakes." More than that, she had Shippo whom at this point, she'd basically adopted. She couldn't abandon him.
Plus, she loved the freedoms this era had. The restrictions of organized government and hypocrisy of what justice was to become had yet to taint this time. If she were being honest, the more she came back here, the less she felt at home in the future.
It was a conundrum she would ponder at a later date buy for now. She had another idea. Unknowingly, her eyes took on a mischievous glint as she turned to look at her quiet companion. "You know, Inuyasha is the only other person who's been able to travel to my time."
If Kagome didn't know any better, she'd swear she heard him snort. But that was impossible. Terrifying inu lords DIDBT snort. She did see a flicker of... something in his eyes as he scoffed aloud for her to hear.
With an air of, dare she say, envy, he shrugged and looked away from her and focused again on the bone eaters well. "Of course he is."
"Is that jealousy I hear Sesshomaru?" She couldn't stop her answering giggle even if she'd tried. To think that Sesshomaru, lord of the Western Lands, and a constant thorn in Inuyasha's side, was actually jealous of something he couldn't do, was hysterical to her
Sesshomaru, on the other hand, didn't find it as funny. Kagome's giggles stopped when a low growl could be heard begind his words. "Don't be ridiculous. As if This Sesshomaruwould feel something as weak as enviousness."
Seeing the frustration hidden behind an air of indifference, kagomes smile softened. "Do you want to try?" His eyes snapped toward his arm as Kagome gentky laid her hand there to catch his attention.
It worked. All Sesshomaru could focus on was how he SHOULD be disgusted by her touch, but wasn't. He nearly ignored her question until he heard her followup. "Trust me."Turning his focus from the oddly RIGHT feeling of her hand on him to her expectant face, he thought about what she said. The Miko had trusted him with her secret. Now she was asking him to trust her so she that she could share even MORE secrets with him.
It was a simple decision, really. Weather she knew it ir not, the Miko had gained his trust, and his loyalty long ago. Inu weren't known for forgetting those who take care of them in a time of crisis.
With a nod, he watched as she clapped her hands, squeeled like a mouse, and jumped like an excited child. He wasn't entirely surprised when she grabbed his hand and pulled him towards what she called, her gateway home.
