She wasn't trying to spy. Not really anyway. She was just... concerned, and playing the role of pseudo big sister to the best of her abilities.

Though she was only two years older than her, Sango had always felt overly protective of Kagome. Sure, she was beyond educated, but Kagome had absolutely no survival skills. It wasn't her fault, though.

Kagome was from a time when such skills were unneeded. She didn't have to worry about finding shelter, she had a home to return to. She didn't have to worry about going hungry, food was easily accessible and readily available. She didn't have to worry about bandits or rogue yokai, her time was relatively safe and yokai didn't exist.

Despite all of this, Kagome had persevered above it all. She went from never having seen a yokai to standing fearless in the face of some of the strongest in Nippon. Never having held a bow, Kagome somehow managed to master archery in less than five years.

Same with her riki. She didn't even know she was a miko until she was fifteen. Yet somehow, she had grown to rival the most powerful miko to have ever lived. Sango wouldn't be surprised if, once practically trained, Kagome managed to surpass even the legendary Moridoko.

Not to mention how honorable she was. Honestly, Kagome could have given up, gone home at any time and there's nothing any of them could've done about it. The only reason she came back was to fix her mistake.

Kagome was also extremely kind and lacked prejudice. She befriended everyone. In fact, most of her friends had either kidnapped or tried to kill her at some point before she swayed their hearts with her big blue eyes and relaxing aura.

But unfortunately, that kindness regularly bled into naivety and put her dear friend in harms way. More often than not, Kagome was the target of the numerous foes in their path. She was more susceptible to the betrayel of false friendships forged in what she believed to be cemented comradery.

That is why Sango was so suspicious of the unexpected supposed friendship that was seemingly forming between Kagome and Sesshomaru. She didn't trust the daiyokai. Too many times in the past had he tried to harm their group for her to believe he suddenly had a change of heart.

Sesshomaru hated humans. He despised miko... and Kagome was very much a human miko. So that left Sango to wonder what was really going on between the two.

Lost in her thoughts while observing her best friend casually laughing at something the cold daiyokai said, Sango didn't notice the saimyōshō flying away from their campsite.
