Disbelief

The next thing I know is that I woke up in a familiar bed, my head partially aching. The view wasn't very clear either. I annoyingly took the oxygen mask off me. The amount of times I've been here is more than annoying. It is irritating as hell.

I waited for a minute or so just trying to process if I'm a living being or not. See, I'm just talking nonsense. Forgive me, even I'm getting exasperated at my own existence. Sometimes, I believed that dying was far better than suffering all this pain by myself.

I saw Bri entering my room a while later. "Oh, you finally woke up. Thank goodness, we were worried sick for you Jo"... " You good? " She sounded concerned as I nodded.
It's only once in a lifetime that we get to experience a brother-sister moment. We would literally be fighting otherwise.

"Mom and dad's not here. They had some important meeting at work or something... Oh right, I have to call  and inform them that you're wide awa-"
I held Bri's hands into me and stopped her from calling mom and dad.

"What are you doing Jo? Did you perhaps hurt your head or something? I'mma call the doctor now. Wait. "

"Bri, stop. I definitely did not hurt my head. I was stopping you from calling mom and dad. You can call them later. First, I want you to tell me what actually happened. I don't remember everything cuz my head's been spinning around for a while."

"Take it easy now, Jo. I will explain everything I witnessed after you get a bit more better."

"But-"

"Stop asking me Jo. You need to calm down. All you have to know now is that you're stable but exhausted so please get some rest and take good care of your health. "

I didn't even respond back. Maybe she's right. I should've taken my health a bit more seriously.

Everytime I think about myself, I feel annoyed by the fact that I'm just an overweight to my parents, friends and everyone around me. All I've ever wanted to achieve in life is peace. But I never once got to experience that.

I really hope one day I can find peace, not in heaven, but in earth.
