Hadrian had an exciting August despite the looming danger of Voldemort. After the will reading, he spoke briefly with Ragnok who revealed that they had discovered one of the Horcruxes in Bellatrix Lestrange's vault. As possessing such a vile piece of magic was a violation of Gringott's rules, they had every right to claim everything in the vault. However, Hadrian asked that at least half of the money be transferred to the Longbottom vault as compensation for what Bellatrix had done to Neville's parents.
Hadrian requested his father, Uncle, and Hermione to return to Gringotts the very next day to take an inheritance test. It was not surprising to find that they were victims of blocks and compulsions. However, Hermione's test result was most shocking as it revealed that she was the last descendant of Helga Hufflepuff, most likely from a squib branch. After the test, Sirius, Remus, and Hermione walked out of Gringotts with new rings on their fingers, as they had taken their positions as heads of their respective houses.
Throughout the month, Hadrian and Sirius had visited Tats and Piercings a few times, sometimes accompanied by Hermione, Remus, and even the twins. The fascination on Hermione, Fred, and George's faces was amusing, and it was clear that the twins would likely visit the tattoo parlour at some point in the future. However, Hermione didn't seem as interested.
September first came a lot quicker than any of them anticipated and Grimmauld Place was bustling as they were running a little late for the train due to the two younger Weasley's laziness. Hermione and Hadrian, on the other hand, were finding the chaos rather amusing as they watched from their seats at the dining table.
"Got everything ready, puppies?" Sirius questioned as he walked into the kitchen, looking down at Hadrian and Hermione with a raised eyebrow.
He had grown closer to the two teenagers and often noticed similarities between them and James and Lily. His relationship with Hadrian had developed into a father-son bond, which brought him immense joy. Even now, being called "dad" sometimes makes him emotional. Hermione, on the other hand, had become like a daughter to him and found that despite being extremely intelligent, she had quite a mischievous and vindictive streak that from what he could tell, his son absolutely adored.
"Yes Dad, Mione made sure I was all packed last night" Hadrian shot Hermione a teasing grin, remembering how irritated she had been when she noticed his empty trunk at the end of his bed. Thankfully, now that she was emancipated in the magical world, she was able to do magic as she pleased and happily packed his trunk with a simple wave of her wand.
"Fuck off" She mumbled embarrassingly.
After the witch was freed from her compulsions and blocks, her personality underwent a change. She became more relaxed, playful and adventurous. She no longer blindly trusted authority figures and was no longer mortified whenever someone either corrected or did better than her in class. Similar to Hadrian, her confidence had increased tenfold and she was more willing to try new things. This was reflected in her trunk, which was now filled with more stylish magical and muggle clothing. However, Hermione remained the bookworm she had always been and still enjoyed relaxing with a good book whenever she had free time. The only difference was that she now had Hadrian by her side while doing so.
