Y/N finished telling Dliuc about her adopted father, Nazih and she took a sip of water to soothe her throat from all the talking she just did. Diluc gave her a sympathetic look, "I'm truly sorry about your mother leaving you. It must've been extremely hard to accept what she did."
He sat back in his chair and took a small sip of his wine, "Your adopted father, Nazih, would you like to tell me more about him? He seems to play an important role in your love for biology and researches."
"My father was always encouraging me to keep learning more about plants. He enrolled me in Sumeru Akademiya so I could advance my study, increase my chance of getting a career in researching plants along with a license to do my own projects. Honestly, I think that I became a researcher mostly just to make him happy as a father. He was the first person to make me feel wanted after all."
There was a glint of sadness in her eyes as she said this and she tries to hide it with a smile, "But hey that doesn't mean I don't love what I do. I just...wish he was still around to see me accomplish all the things he wished for me to have."
Diluc nodded his head. He understood the pain of losing a dear parent all too well. His father died from using a delusion when he was just a teen and the grief that came along with it was rough to deal with, especially when he figure out the truth of his death.
"I understand how you feel Y/N. If it makes you feel any less alone, my father also passed away when I was around the age of 18. I also had a very hard time dealing with his passing and the negative emotions I carried afterwards weren't good either knowing the cause of his death." He quickly tries to stir the conversation to a different topic, not wanting to go into details about him massacring a bunch of Fatuis and getting banned from Snezhnaya. Maybe another time when he feels up to it, he can open up about it to her.
"Moving on. I'll like to say again that you're doing a pretty decent job as a mother so far despite how you were treated as a child. I thank you again for putting in the effort."
"Well, this should be the other way around." Y/N said as she took another bite from her plate, "If you didn't blackmail me to stay here and be a mom, I would've went back to Sumeru."
"Ah, I completely forgot about the blackmail for a moment."
"What?? How can you forget that?"
He shrugged, "I guess my ambitions were too big for me to see that some of the necessary things that I do can be bad. As you know, I want to provide the best for Leonard. And it seems like it's also helping you a lot. Right?"
Y/N nodded her head. What he said was true.
As they finished their meal, Diluc paid for the bill and he nodded his head at Y/N, "Let's leave now and pick Leonard up from Jean. I have something to do later."

When they finally reached the manor, Kaeya opens his arms wide seeing Leonard, "Leonard!"
"Uncle Kaeya!!"
Leonard jumped into Kaeya's arms and he laughed, "How was your day in the city?"
"It was fun! I get to see Aunt Jean and play with sister Klee. We also get to prank Aunt Lisa in the library as well."
Kaeya laughs again, "Oh no, not Lisa! She must've been mad at you both huh? Well..."
