Chapter 12: Rescue

You fight against yourself a little, desperate not to pass out again. You are afraid that once you fall asleep, you'll never wake up again. Two hours pass by like this. Just Bucky sitting behind you, wrapping his body around yours, while no one dares to say another word. You're both staying silent here, just focusing on your breaths.

Until there suddenly is a knock on your door.

When you hear the knock on the door, it sends a shiver through you. You don't know who that might be. You don't know if they're friendly or not. The sudden suspense is too much for you. You start crying and cling onto Bucky. You don't want him to move. He pulls you in even closer, wrapping his arms around you even more. He won't let go.

A second knock makes you flinch.

A soft male voice appears from the other side of the door: "Roomservice."

Your ears perk up. You don't know if it's just you but somehow you just know that this voice isn't unfriendly. It seems almost familiar but you might be hallucinating.

"Did someone order some serpent heads?"

This is enough for the both of you to finally understand what is going on. This is Clint Barton, coming for a rescue. He knew referring to the Hydra saying of 'Cut one head off and two more will grow' like that, would let you immediately know that the backup had finally arrived. You let out a deep sigh in relief. Bucky squeezes your shoulders slightly.

Before Bucky can make a move to open the door, it already swings open. Clint unlocked it with a technical device. He seems all excited and confident until his eyes fall on you. Immediately a wave of worry washes over him. He rushes over to the bed, not wasting any time to find out what happened. Bucky answers everything.

Clint takes in all the information and then places his finger on his communication device:

"Guys, change of plans. I need you all down here to secure the building and a medical team in the room."

Someone seems to try to argue with that, but he's not having it.

"No! I need the meds here and I need them NOW! She's not gonna make it out of this room."

Soon after that, a team of medical staff arrive at the hotel room, rushing in to save your life. You are finally getting the medical treatment you needed all this time. Bucky only can hope that it's not too late already as he immediately lays you down on the mattress and gets up from behind you. Bucky moves up to Clint. As soon as the team starts treating you, you can hear a muffled exchange of words. You look up at Bucky one last time. You are too weak to speak but you mouth a little "Thank you" and then finally let it all go, allowing your body to finally rest as you pass out.
