Third Person POV -
Rody had just helped out an old couple pay for their meal and was starting to clean the tables for closing time; Vincent was in the back letting each of the chefs go home and clearing up the kitchen for tomorrow. .

.

Rody finishes quite quickly and walks into the kitchen where he is greeted by Vincent putting away the rag used to wipe off all the stations.

"Hey Vince, I was thinking if I could get my pay early this week.." — Rody says as he places his hand behind his neck, rubbing the nervousness off of his body.
Vincent switches his attention to Rody, staying silent for a moment before speaking up, "May I ask why you would want your check early?"
"Well I wanted to see if I could try one more time to contact Manon and take her out, maybe get her things that I wasn't able to afford before.." — Rody mumbles out the last part, hoping Vincent didn't hear (spoiler he did)
Vincent sighs before placing two of his fingers on the bridge of his nose and giving it a light squeeze in frustration, "You know, you can't just keep chasing your ex.. Plus money shouldn't be the only reason why she is staying with you."
Rody is slightly insulted by that statement and spits back, "You are missing the point! She doesn't want all of this, I'm just trying to prove to her that I'm doing better now and we can try again. Besides she's the best woman out there and deserves everything this world has to offer for her !"

Vincent scoffs and raises an eyebrow before walking towards his office, Rody following right behind him. Both men are standing beside one another at Vincent's desk before Vincent disturbs the awkward situation by opening a drawer and grabbing out a blank check. "Don't expect this to be an everyday thing, I've only made an exception for you this time .." — Vincent warns which Rody eagerly responds with a nod.

.

Vincent finishes writing off the check and hands it to Rody, "Thank you so much, Vince! And I reassure you nothing like this will happen again" Rody smiles as he picks up the check, like how a kid would when their parents finally give in and buy them candy. Vincent can't help but chuckle at this before rolling his eyes and guiding Rody outside of the bistro before closing up and waving goodbye to his dear waiter.

.

Rody bikes to the nearest phone booth and eagerly punches the number to Manon's number; the phone rings.
A familiar angelic voice replies, "Hello?"
Rody can't help but smile, this was Manon! His true soulmate, his beloved, and hopefully his soon girlfriend!
"Hey Manon, it's me, Rody. I was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime with me since I have enough money now and maybe this could be some sort of start to trying again? We could discuss this over some dinner or coffee, and then go shopping." —Rody stops himself before he could ramble much longer, awaiting Manon's response.
"I'm sorry Rody, it's been so long since we have talked and I have found another man that has helped me through these harsh days.. I've moved on and I think it's your turn to do the same." — And with that, the line was cut, leaving Rody there in silence as he processed what just happened..
*This couldn't be true, right? Manon couldn't possibly get over that quickly?* No matter how many questions and excuses Rody thought, he couldn't deny it anymore.. Manon had moved on to have a better life, and all he could do was to accept it and do the same...

.

Rody didn't get much sleep that night as he spent most of it sobbing into his hands and drinking his sorrows away.

.

Rody was woken up by rough knocking at his door, and when he tried to answer it, all of last night's decisions caught up to him and he tumbled forward down to the ground with a thud.
"Rody!? Are you okay in there?"— A familiar deep voice rang from outside the door, it was Vincent. What was he doing here?
