(episode seven ; the bite)
"HE SAID THAT HE WAS BUILDING SOMETHING..." Eleven explained to them with a crack in her voice. Max and Willow sat beside her on the couch, the others pacing the room and thinking carefully. Fireworks for the Fourth of July echoed the woods surrounding them. "That it was all for me."
"Building something?" Max repeated El, looking around the room confusedly. "Is he talking about the flayed?"
"He must be."
"So he's building an army, just like we thought."
"Yeah, but he's not building this army to spread."
"He's building it to stop Eleven."
"Like when he made the army of Demo - Dogs last year?" Willow asked them.
"Yeah," Mike nodded to her. "But last year, El closed the gate on him. I have a feeling that really pissed him off."
Lucas scoffed. "Like, royally."
"And the Mind Flayer now knows that she's the only thing that can stop him. But if she's out of the way-."
"Game over," Lucas finished for Mike.
"He also said..," El spoke up croakily. "He was gonna kill all of you." Everyone paused, looking around awkwardly.
Willow sarcastically smiled, slapping her hands together over her knees. "Fun," she said.
"Yeah, well, that's nice," Max muttered, also with a sarcastic smile.
The group stares down at the grubby floor for a moment before Nancy stood up, walking towards a window. A faint screeching noise soared through the wind. The sound of thick trees bashing to the floor joined in. "Do you guys hear that?" Nancy half whispered. She started to shudder. Everyone turned to face the window too.
"It's just the fireworks," Jonathan assured her with a shrug.
Nancy took a deep breath. "Billy..." She spun around to face El. "When he told you this, it was here, in this room?" El nodded at her. Panic overtook Nancys face immediately. Thudding noises were heard in the distance. Will brushed his shaking fingertips across the back of his neck, slightly shivering.
"He knows we're here."
Jonathan instantly jumped from his seat, rushing out the door. Everyone followed behind without hesitation. Fireworks crowded the dull night sky. Near the end of the dirt road, the same creature from the hospital stormed towards them, crashing trees to the ground along the way.
They ran inside, bordering the windows and doors with as much as possible. Tables, bookshelves, chairs. Anything. Nancy swooped up a large gun from the table. "Hey, get away from the windows," she ordered the children. The group huddled together in a circle formation. Jonathan gripped an axe tightly in his hands, ready. All that was now heard was the uncontrollable heavy breathing from them.
