After the celebrations had ended and the guests had finally left, an overwhelmed and exhausted Meerab excused herself the first chance she got, bidding everyone good night and heading up to the room given to her in the Khan house since her parents had announced it was too late to drive back to Karachi at that hour.

Leaning against the door, she sighed as she locked it and took a deep breath, grateful to finally have some peace and quiet after hours of forcefully mingling with guests at a party she never wanted.

But it seemed that her peace was short lived when the sound of a throat clearing was heard from the behind the curtains making her jump in her place, clutch her chest and place a hand on her mouth to muffle a yelp as Murtasim appeared from behind the curtain.

He looked like the devil in black with his hair perfectly gelled back, not a single strand out of place making it impossible to tell how she had run her fingers through those very hair and messed it up only a few hours ago. His moustache was perfectly curled upwards at the ends and a devilishly delicious smirk adorned his lips.

His smirk grew as he observed her changing expressions; going from scared and shocked to annoyed and frustrated, her eyes widening in fear before relaxing, her mouth parted in a small "o" when she removed her hand and the way she gritted her teeth as his presence registered in her brain.

"Tum yahan kya kar rahe hou?" She snapped, shooting him a glare as her body relaxed and she stood up straight.

He chuckled, "kyun, dar gayein?"

Her eyes narrowed into another glare, "darti hai meri jooti" she shot back, marching over to her dressing table where she began removing her jewellery including the khandaani kangan Maa Begum had given her after the cake was cut as a reminder to the family and Meerab herself that she was the future Mrs Murtasim Khan and there was no way out of it.

As much as she had despised this power move on her soon to be mother in law's end, she found herself experiencing a moment of extreme satisfaction when she scanned the crowd and her eyes landed on Haya who looked like she was about to faint and fall into the pool behind her.

As Haya visibly held back tears and clutched Maryam's hand for support, the devil on Meerab's shoulder whispered reminders of the pleasures she'd shared with Murtasim in the back of his car not too long ago. Surprisingly for her, it filled her with a wicked satisfaction to be the girl the most eligible bachelor of Hyderabad and its surrounding lands desired, though she would rather kill herself than ever admit that out loud. But seeing the cousin who had promised to make her life hell the moment her betrothal to Murtasim was announced so broken and helpless, Meerab couldn't help but suppress a smirk as she recalled the earth shattering orgasm she had experienced in the car while pinning her gaze on her irritating cousin.

"Of course, tum tou boht bahadur hou" Murtasim teased, coming to stand behind her as she frustratedly took off the kangan and practically slammed them on the dresser.

"Tch, itna ghussa?" Murtasim questioned teasingly, standing behind her with barely a centimetre between them, making her feel his body heat even through her jacket.

Their eyes met through their reflections in the mirror and for just a moment, Meerab couldn't help but admire the way her pink dress contrasted with his black suit; they looked good together. Her softness against his rugged handsomeness, her light against his darkness, her snowy skin against his tan. But then just as quickly, the annoyance was back.
