I wonder,
What is beyond that horizon that catches the falling sun?
Where the waves roll on and on,
Back and forth,
Back and forth...
Faces of a sapphire reflecting amber light and turning to diamond,
As these fragile crystals slip through my hands,
Melting seamlessly into the sand,
The flame is extinguished by the endless horizon.
I wonder,
What existed within the polished sea glass?
A small world shattered in an instant,
Contents spilling and seeping into the ground down and gone,
Shattered and lost,
Corroded and erased...
Little creatures lying on the sand waiting to be adopted,
Or drowned again in endless darkness.
I wonder,
What is contained in that sea breeze?
Upwind, factories with pluming smoke bellowing up and up,
Swirling and spreading,
Spreading and disappearing...
I unknowingly breathing in shards of Dieffenbachia,
Rendering me speechless and silenced,
Waiting for the angels to cure me from suffering.
I wonder,
What exists in the deepening blue?
Where the sun refuses to shine and the only light coming from abyssal creatures impossible and mysterious,
Enchanting and alluring,
Unknown and alone...
Ignorant to the world of light above they hunt,
Their existence unknown to me,
I've only read about them in the newspaper.
I wonder... who am I?
