Title: "I'm Sorry"

Pairing: Muichiro Tokito X Reader

He panted heavily as you cried and screamed over his severed body.

"You- you can't just die on me like this! I love you!"

He smiled softly.

Blood leaked out of his wounds and spilled out over the floor where you sat on your knees. Your Muichiro Tokito was about to die at the hands of Upper Moon 1, Kokushibo.

You had defeated him, though. So that was about the only plus to the situation.

As Sanemi cried and cried over his little brother's disintegrating, half demon body, you sobbed over your love, who was slowly losing his light.

Muichiro opened his mouth.

Nothing came out.

A second later, he tried again, taking in the deepest breath he could, and spoke three soft words.

"I love you," he said.

You tried desperately to wipe off the tears that continued to flow down your cheeks.

"Love, please don't leave me, please, I beg you, Mui," you bawled.

A tired, shaking hand reached to cup the side of your face.

"You know," he took a sharp breath. "My memory was awful. I forgot simple tasks, people's names, why I went into a room," he continued, his voice becoming more quiet with each passing word, but you hung on to them, clinging onto your love for dear life.

"But then, when I met you, at the swordsmith village, I felt as though my heart stopped in my chest. I ignored you, I'm sorry. But when I met you again on another mission a few weeks after, I remembered your name. Your face, your name, your hair, you were unforgettable. As we spent those weeks together, I felt like I never wanted to be apart from your side. I'd grown to love you. I'm sorry you have to see me go so soon," he began to cry a little too, the pain starting to set in as the adrenaline wore off.

"Pl-please, Mui. I love you so much, I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,"

As Muichiro's breath slowed, so did his heart.

"I'm sorry..."
