Pairing: Tanjiro Kamado x reader
Warnings: no
Reader is mostly based off yn from boketto.

It was cold, you thought to yourself. It's not like anyone would be able to hear your thoughts anyway since, after all, you were asleep.

You had been for a while. Weeks, months, you didn't know. You just know it's been a long time. Nothing hurt anymore, which could mean one of two things.

You were either healing rapidly in your coma, or you were dying. You hoped it wasn't the latter.

You could still hear things around you as the days went by. The occasional chatter from down the hallway bearing familiar voices such as Aoi Kanzaki, your caretaker, who you would hear or feel injecting you with something that made everything feel numb. But that was only when your body DID hurt. It doesn't anymore. Your bones only ached for the warmth of the sun and the pop from a nice, long awaited stretch.

You would sometimes hear your comrades screaming from the other infirmary room. One always screaming and wailing for mercy while the other spewed insults and wished for death upon the other.

You had always had an enhanced sense of auras, should you say.

You could feel what others were feeling, thinking even.

Some were more threatening then others, but mostly you could see the soft glint's of colors that outlined their figures. Save for demons, of course. They always had a subtle hint of gray behind their same dark red.

Constantly driven by anger, the demons.

Besides Nezuko Kamado, of course.

But she was different. Everyone knew that.

Other people's auras often made your head hurt, but when they didn't, they we r a special kind of person.

There have only been two of these special people in your life thus far.

Your mother, the sweet, loving, caring woman that raised you until her dying breath. A shame, really.

The last being a close friend and comrade,  Tanjiro Kamado. The brother of a human protecting demon.

He always gave off light, pastel hues of yellow and pinks, little bits of tealish blues in the mix, too.

His mere presence calmed your being.

You felt your still body relax as you felt the presence of the kind boy nearby.

"Hey, it's me, Tanjiro. I know you probably can't hear me, but I just came to see how you were doing."

Speak of an angel, it shall appear.

"Youve... been out for a while, but Miss Aoi says you're doing just fine and healthy. But I can't help but worry. I'll be going on my next mission soon, and I'd hate to leave you behind so that when you wake, I'm not right here next to you. I really hope you wake up soon, ___. We all miss you very much," you felt him place a tiny kiss on your palm, lifting up your hand in his. His hands, gentle and warm but rough to the touch. A sign of his hard work and determination.

"Come back to me, okay?" And with that, his hand slipped from yours and he began out the door.

You wanted oh so terribly to tell him, "I'm here." And "don't leave.". But you couldn't. You felt as though you had been stuck in a box strapped shut and couldn't move. Couldn't speak. You wanted so badly to come back. And when his footsteps halted, you thought he'd heard your pleas. But he only sighed and his aura disappeared.

That was the last you'd see of him for a very long time.
