Part 18: Preparation

Zach is aggressively typing on his laptop, looking at Cosmic media.

"Zach slow down before you break the laptop." Madison said, sitting on Zach's desk.

"Why are you even here anyway?" Zach asked, not taking his attention away from the laptop screen.

Madison scoffs.

"Can't I just hang out with my little brother in law?" Madison asked mockingly.

Zach sighs.

"You and I both know that you never want to hang out with me unless you want something." Zach said.

"Alright fine, I guess that's a no on small talk." Madison said.

"Get to the point, Mads." Zach said.

Madison rolls her eyes.

"So I heard that Jade despite not listening to me is trying to ruin your little baby's career." Madison said.

"Wait you knew she was planning on it, AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME??" Zach said, freaking out.

"Stop being so dramatic, I didn't think it was that important to tell you." Madison said.

"Of course it's important to me! It's my daughter we're talking about." Zach said.

"Whatever, it's not as if you're winning the most supportive dad award even if her little career wasn't in danger!" Madison said.

"You should have first hand knowledge of my capabilities as a parent." Zach said.

"I do, however that doesn't mean you were a good parent." Madison said.

"Better than you." Zach muttered under his breath, crossing his arms across his chest.

"What was that." Madison said, glaring at Zach.

"It's nothing." Zach said, grabbing his coat and putting it across his shoulder.

Zach storms out of the room and slams the door.

"Always so dramatic, never ceases to disappoint me, poor Ruby really deserves better." Madison said, staring at the door before teleporting out.

Meanwhile with Zero.

"So you're saying that you feel as if Jade isn't a true friend?" Zero asked, looking at Poppy.

"Didn't she only approach you because she needed your help with Selena?" Poppy asked.

"I mean you aren't exactly wrong, but you were the one who said that I needed her." Zero said.

"I know that part, but after seeing you use your powers, I realize that you don't need anyone to prove yourself." Poppy said, putting her hands on Zero's shoulder.

Zero sighs.

"If anything you're saying is true, I guess I can just do this one last favor for her and then go back to my normal life." Zero said.

Poppy hides a smile.

"If it makes you feel better, at least you can use some of your powers now." Poppy said.
