Sunghoon Park, an investigator, finds that investigating a case in Choi's state has exposed him to a new world he never expected. Throughout the journey, he uncovers dark magic and curses connected to demons and other fantastical elements, while als...
Jungwon walked into Jeongseong's cafe and glanced around. Spotting Sunghoon was easier than he expected; the pale man sat with his famous laptop open, a device well-known to everyone on the investigation team. "Woah, look at this guy. Playing games without a care in the world, as if he's not knee-deep in a dangerous case all by himself. You're something else, Mr. Sunghoon," Jungwon remarked.

Sunghoon tore his gaze from the laptop screen and grinned at Jungwon. "That's Park Sunghoon to you. Now, sit down quickly. I've got a few things to discuss," he said, gesturing with his chin toward the empty seat in front of him.
Jungwon raised an eyebrow. "Did we really have to meet in a cafe instead of a library to talk about serious business? TMI, I get distracted by food way too easily to focus on any conversation, no matter how important it is, when there's food around!" he complained, as Sunghoon chuckled sheepishly. "Well, let me order something with your wallet, Mr. Sunghoon."
Sunghoon replied in a chilly tone, "Sure, but keep it budget-friendly. I'm trying to save money."
Jungwon grumbled, "Saving money for what exactly? People using those excuses are so cliché these days!"
After placing their orders, Sunghoon began to share about his experiences at Choi's mansion to his temporary partner, Jungwon. He described the people he had encountered, the luxury of the mansion, and the awkwardness of interacting with one of the young masters, Heeseung.
"And what about the guy you're supposed to be guarding? Have you met him yet?" Jungwon inquired.
"Not yet. All I know is his name is Soobin Choi, and he's the older son of Mr. Lee Minhyuk," Sunghoon replied just as a waiter brought two cups of coffee and slices of apple pie to their table.
Jungwon pulled a cup and plate closer to him, expressing gratitude to the waiter. "Oh, I see-Wait, did you say 'Lee' as the owner's last name?" he asked, looking puzzled.
Sunghoon affirmed, "That's correct. I know what you're getting at-the surname."
Jungwon arched his eyebrows. "Exactly! The mansion's name suggests it should be owned by someone with the surname Choi, so why is Minhyuk Lee the owner?"
"That's where we should start our investigation, to be honest. We need to address the obvious suspicions first, even if they seem small or meaningless," Sunghoon suggested, typing down notes on his laptop.
Jungwon finished his coffee in one gulp and let out a burp, causing Sunghoon to cringe. "So, how can I assist you?" Jungwon asked.
"By taking notes while I update you every night on the happenings at Choi's mansion," Sunghoon replied, silently wishing Taehyun was there with him instead of Jungwon, who he considered unprofessional.
Jungwon whined, "That sounds so dull. Can't I somehow get inside the mansion and investigate alongside you?"
Sunghoon pondered for a moment. "I heard that a gardener recently got hospitalized, so they might need someone to fill in temporarily..."
