Chapter 4

Investigation Day 3

After Taehyun left him in bed, Sunghoon began to whimper, tossing and turning aggressively as if caught in a terrifying dream. This event unfolded on the same night that Sunghoon passed away in Kai's bedroom, following the appearance of the silhouette for the second time.

In Sunghoon's dream, he encountered a haunting vision of a familiar figure looming over him, its face marred by blood, scars, and burns. The man's hands tightened around Sunghoon's throat, instilling terror in the young investigator's eyes. This menacing figure was the same man Sunghoon had seen at the mansion on the second day before he ended up in the hospital. The man who made him faint that day.

"My life has grown dull since I granted you too much freedom," the man hissed with venom. "End it, Sunghoon, put an end to your pitiful existence!"

Before the man could extinguish Sunghoon's final breath, Yeonjun appeared, confusion evident on its face. "Who the hell are you?"

The stranger's grip slackened, his focus abruptly shifting to Yeonjun. "Back off! This is none of your concern!"

Yeonjun's request for answers was met with impoliteness. "Ignorance looks good on you. Stay in the dark."

Yeonjun's eyes glowed with a cosmic hue of Nebula blue- An ancient and potent chant escaped his lips, causing the ominous man to vomit crimson before collapsing lifeless on the ground.

As Yeonjun's orbs returned to its natural color, he approached perplexed Sunghoon.

"You saved me... Thanks," Sunghoon expressed gratefully, trying to catch his breath.

"No problem."

"Do you need something? Is that why you've been in my dreams for almost half a year?" Sunghoon inquired.

"I do need something. It took you a while to figure it out."

"Okay, is what you need linked to your death? Are you seeking revenge on your killer?"

"Yeah, I seek revenge for myself and also aim to uncover the whole truth behind multiple murders and crimes committed at Choi's state," Yeonjun explained.

"Multiple murders? Are you saying there's been more than one murder?" Sunghoon questioned.

"Many have died at the hands of others in Choi's state, Sunghoon. I learned this by ear dropping on the workers' conversations and spying on them. While I can't pinpoint the individuals responsible from what I overheard, I am certain that one of the culprits is Beomgyu. He was the only person present in the room with my stepfather Dk when I entered and found Dk's lifeless on the floor in front of Beomgyu. I confronted Beomgyu angrily at that moment," Yeonjun paused, taking a deep breath before continuing, "That's the last memory I have before my vision faded into darkness."

"And what happened after you passed out?"

"Death, that's what. I'm certain Beomgyu fled because he didn't want to be caught after killing my stepfather."

"Oh... So, if you're actually dead, how am I able to see you?" Sunghoon inquired.

"I'm not entirely sure how you can see me yet, but believe me, Sunghoon, when I say that you're the only one who can seek justice for me. I truly mean it. Also, consider this: if you solve this case with my guidance, your status could rise, and you might even become a sensation in the global news. Wouldn't you like to experience the thrill of victory and fame?"

Sunghoon's expression softened. "Honestly, fame and money are what I desire. It's surprising how well you seem to understand me, even though we've only connected through dreams."
