"You seem very happy today," said 16-year-old Heeseung, as he walked into the room where his father, DK, was getting ready to go out on a date with his boyfriend, Minhyuk.
DK turned and welcomed Heeseung into his arms, his smile beaming. "Yes, I'm extremely happy. The three boys are here already; they're in the living room. Could you look after them while I'm out?"
Heeseung was slightly annoyed by how his father was head over heels for his new boyfriend. Heeseung's mother was still alive, but she moved away to Korea after she broke up with his father, because the parents fell out of love and things didn't work out for them. Heeseung had chosen to stay with his father, mainly for his younger brother, who preferred life in the mansion.
The Lee brothers, three well-known models, were already known to Heeseung through his father's stories and social media.
Entering the living room with a bit of nervousness, Heeseung spotted the three brothers. Beomgyu, the youngest and a bit younger than Heeseung, was casually sprawled on the couch, his legs thrown onto the coffee table as he was absorbed in his phone. Yeonjun, the eldest, strolled around the room, headphones on, examining the plants. Soobin, the middle Lee brother, sat on the couch, seemingly awaiting Heeseung's arrival.
"Heeseung Choi, good evening!" Soobin greeted, prompting his brothers to look up at Heeseung.
After brief introductions, which were more of a formality since they knew of each other, Soobin led an icebreaker session.
Yeonjun asked in the middle of their conversation, "Where's your younger brother?"
"He's in Korea with our driver, visiting our mom," Heeseung responded, a hint of hesitation in his voice. "At first I thought he ran away from home, but then later Mr. Wonwoo the driver called and let me know that Jake suddenly demanded him to book two tickets and take him to Korea. Jake's quite troublesome, as the youngest often are—spoiled and hates adult's guidance."
Yeonjun chuckled and nodded. "Tell me about it. Our Beomgyu here is just the same—spoiled and stubborn. See, even now he's completely ignoring us—Hey, Beomgyu, phone away!" He reached for his brother's phone, but Beomgyu swatted his hand away in annoyance.
"What the fuck!! You made me lose!" Beomgyu exclaimed, visibly upset. "I'm telling dad!"
Yeonjun smirked mockingly. "Go ahead, as if he'd side with you when you're not even participating in the conversation."
As the evening continued, Heeseung found himself enjoying his time with the Lee brothers, particularly connecting with Yeonjun. Heeseung was the same age as Soobin and Beomgyu, all born in late 2001, while Yeonjun was only a year older than them.
