"Heeseung seemed happy after we got back home yesterday. Is it because you succeeded in starting a conversation with him?"
"Yes, Master Soobin. I had a nice chat with him. He knows a lot about reindeers."
At first, Soobin appeared happy, but the last sentence slowly dimmed his bright aura.
"Sorry, did I mess up, master?"
"Oh no, you didn't! It's just... I had an older brother, Yeonjun. He loved reindeers. One day, me, Yeonjun hyung, Heeseung, and Beomgyu went to the woods for a picnic. I suggested that we could get some elegant animals to the woods. Yeonjun said we already had one, pointing at Heeseung. He thought Heeseung looked like a reindeer and became obsessed with them. Heeseung was the only one who listened to Yeonjun's talk about different kinds of animals. They were close, and after Yeonjun passed away, Heeseung distanced himself from everyone, including me."
"Why are you lying, Kang?" The silhouette slipped into the guest room through a wall, catching Taehyun off guard.
"What the-Next time, ask before you float into my room," Taehyun whispered, pausing his gentle patting of Jungwon's sleeping head beside him.
Taehyun and the mysterious figure moved to the terrace for a private conversation away from Jungwon's ears.
"Why did you lie about the amulet's power?" The silhouette cut to the chase.
"Who said I lied?"
"When you were reading about the amulet to the others earlier, I read it too from behind you. What you said didn't match the book at all."
Taehyun stayed silent, prompting the silhouette to continue, "The book mentioned the amulet stores dark magic. Instead of protection, you gave Sunghoon the opposite? You cursed him, didn't you?"
"I didn't curse him! There's no curse magic in there. I stored two magical powers for him a while back, so he could use them when the time is right. The time right now just seems perfect for it."
The silhouette sighed as Taehyun questioned the silhouette why he suddenly showed concern for Sunghoon, even though he had initially been following and scaring the raven haired investigator like a creep. In response, the silhouette admitted that it was just a silly prank, but then promised Sunghoon to assist with the investigation.
After a long conversation where they both proved their innocence, Taehyun entered his room feeling annoyed and frustrated. The gray-haired investigator wasn't sure if he could trust the silhouette creature. It all seemed too sudden and random for the creature to offer help to Sunghoon with the investigation.
Taehyun's expression softened as he saw Jungwon rubbing his eyes on the bed. The younger investigator was dressed in an oversized dark blue long-sleeved sweater, with bare legs.
