Dil mein chhupi yaadon mein,
hum tere khayalon mein khoye rehte hain,
kabhi tum humari yaadon mein aaye toh sochna,
humne apni zindagi tere naam ki hai.

Ashwin's pov:

But all of a sudden, there was a knock on my office door.

Both Charles and I exchanged glances, the tension in the room amplifying. "Come in," I called out, my voice steady but my heart racing. The door creaked open, and one of my employees stepped inside, looking slightly uneasy.

"Sir, someone is here to see you," he said, his tone respectful but urgent.

Charles raised an eyebrow, and I leaned forward, trying to discern the nature of this unexpected visit. "Who is it?" I asked, keeping my voice even.

The employee hesitated for a moment before answering, "It's a woman, sir."

The room fell silent as Charles and I exchanged glances again. My mind raced with possibilities—who could it be at this hour, and why? The stakes were already high, and this unexpected visitor added another layer of intrigue to our already complex situation.

"Send her in," I finally said, my curiosity piqued. I leaned back in my chair, preparing myself for whatever news this woman might bring. Charles shifted slightly, his eyes never leaving the door.

The employee nodded and left the room. Moments later, the door opened again, and to my utter shock, Ashlyn stepped inside. She looked slightly disheveled, her eyes wide with fear and her hands trembling.

"Ashlyn," I breathed, standing up in surprise. Charles glanced at me, then back at her, his expression one of intrigue.

"Ashwin," she began, her voice trembling and tears welling up in her eyes. "I saw someone in our backyard. He was watching the house, and he had a knife. I tried to get someone's attention, but by the time I called for help, he was gone."

Her words sent a chill down my spine. I quickly walked around the desk to her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Ashlyn, are you sure?" I asked gently, trying to keep my own fear at bay.

She nodded, her body shaking. "He was so creepy, Ashwin. He just stood there, staring. I don't know what he wanted, but it was terrifying."

Without another word, I pulled her into a tight hug, feeling her tremble against me. She buried her face in my chest, her sobs muffled as she clung to me. I held her, my heart breaking at her fear and vulnerability. "Shhh, it's okay. I'm here now," I whispered, stroking her hair. "We'll figure this out. You're safe with me."

Charles watched us silently, his expression somber. "We need to take this seriously, Ashwin," he said after a moment. "This could be Vikram's doing. He's getting bolder."

I nodded, still holding Ashlyn. "I know. We need to tighten security and find out who this man is. But first, let's make sure Ashlyn is okay."

Gradually, her sobs subsided, and she pulled back slightly, looking up at me with red-rimmed eyes. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice still shaky. "I didn't know where else to go. I was so scared."

"I'm glad you came to me," I said, wiping a tear from her cheek. "We'll get through this, Ashlyn. I promise."

With that, I turned to Charles. "Let's get security on high alert. And I want to know everything about this man in the backyard."

Charles nodded, already pulling out his phone to make the necessary calls. "We'll get to the bottom of this," he assured us.

As Ashlyn and I left the office, I couldn't shake the image of her frightened face from my mind. Whoever this man was, he had crossed a line.
