"There are a few options for how we can play this out." Drake drew a line in the middle of a sheet of notebook paper. At the top of the left column, he wrote: "Low Key." At the top of the right column, he wrote: "High Visibility."
Lying on her stomach, Mia rested her chin on top of her hands while watching him write.
Shirtless and only clad in a pair of sweatpants, he half-sat and half-leaned beside her. The notebook was placed between them, so he could easily write and she could easily see the page. "The Low Key option is one where we're sneaky with it. We don't just come out and announce to the world that I've cheated on you. There are hints for the public to pick up on, and our actions are a lot more subtle. Me commenting on Solana's posts, us being caught on camera being flirty - maybe in behind-the-scenes footage or something. Blind items being dropped in all of the popular forums, stating that a witness has spotted Solana and me making out in the dark corner of some bar or something. Solana leaving heart eye emojis under a few of my posts. Shit to get people whispering, theorizing, gossiping."
"If she leaves heart eyes under your photos, gossip blogs are going to run with that, and people are going to go in on her," Mia warned.
He shrugged. "Solana doesn't give a damn. She thrives in chaos."
Mia's brows shot up. "Okay."
"You have to remember, we're deliberately trying to create chaos, anyway. That's what these guys want us to do. They want the attention on all of us, the artists who are on labels. If people are going crazy roasting Solana in a bunch of comment sections, it's mission accomplished."
"If the Low Key option is the sneaky option, I'm going to assume the High Visibility option is the loud, ratchet route of informing the public that you've cheated on me."
He grimaced a bit, but nodded. "That would be the splashier route. I get caught drunkenly stumbling out of her place. Paps are tipped off so they catch me. Or paps are tipped off so they can catch us making out in a restaurant. You go off on me on social media or throw out a bunch of subliminal tweets or some shit. With this method, people wouldn't have to wonder or theorize. They'd know for sure that I'd cheated - and Solana and I start popping up together in public, as if we aren't even ashamed of it."
"Some of your fans would hate you," Mia muttered. "This is so shitty."
"I'd survive this," he stated.
The certainty in his voice drew her eyes to meet his. "How are you so sure about things like that all the time?"
"My fans and I have been together for a long time," he replied. "I know this is a very me thing to say, but...my fans are kind of like my girlfriend, in a sense. Over time, I've courted them...tried to impress them...gotten to know them...allowed them to get to know me a bit...started to peel back a few of my layers to see if they could handle it...admitted my faults to them after they proved they could be halfway loyal to me...unintentionally got caught up doing stupid shit, but gauged their reactions to see if they were still fucking with me or not...my fans are vetted. Usually, I know just how far I can push them before they're willing to cast me aside."
"You sound like the most toxic boyfriend of all time," she remarked.
"Are you surprised?" he countered.
With a roll of her eyes, she nodded towards the notebook. "So, we have the subtle option or the not-so-subtle option."
"Those are the main choices, yes."
"Which option would you choose?" she queried.
He shook his head. "I want you to choose."
