"I miss Dr. Shruti so much." Sweta, one of Dr. Shruti's patient says.
"I miss her more." I smile at her.
I'm here in maternity ward, following up with Dr. Shruti's patients. From the day Dr. Shruti left for the trip it has been my regular schedule. I enjoy talking about Shruti with her patients. Shruti is gem of a person, everyone misses her here in hospital.
"You glow differently whenever we talk about Dr. Shruti." Sweta says in a teasing tone.
"Come on Sweta." I try to laugh it out but I can't stop blushing.
"Someone is blushing." Dr. Supriya enters the ward.
"Now you too Dr. Supriya!" I give her a side eye.
"All of us are here, let's video call Dr. Shruti." Sweta says.
"Good idea!" Dr. Supriya says excitedly.
"Okay! Let me call her." I say and take out my phone.
I video call her. I'm excited to see her face after so long. I'm thankful to Sweta that came up with this idea.
2 rings and Shruti cuts the call. My heart sinks.
"Maybe she's busy." Dr. Supriya says.
"Maybe she's enjoying without you." Sweta says, sticking her tongue out.
"I'm happy that she's enjoying." I say but deep down I wish I was with her. Did she talk with Kabir? I wonder what is happening.
"You should go to bed Sweta. I'll text Dr. Shruti that you're missing her." I say to Sweta.
"Tell her to enjoy the trip too." Sweta says.
"I will. Good night." I say and leave the ward.
"Dr. Nishan... are you okay?" Dr. Supriya follows me out to the ward.
"Yeah, just tired." I lie.
"Tired or missing her?" She wants to have fun.
"Both!" I laugh.
"Few more days and Dr. Shruti will be in your life forever." Dr. Supriya smiles.
"Do you think she'll say yes?" I ask.
"Your heart knows this answer more than me." She blinks.
"Thank you for helping me out for, you know!" I say and pause not finding the right words.
"Anything for you guys. Anyways Dr. Nishan, can you give me your charger? I left mine at home." She asks.
"Of course! Come with me." I make her follow me to my cabin.
I give her my charger and she leaves. I'm in my cabin. Me and my thoughts. I sit down in the cabin and call Shruti again. The call didn't connect. Maybe she's offline.
"Shruti, you cut my call. Maybe you're busy." I write to her.
"Please call me when you're free." I want to hear her voice so bad.
"It's been so long since we talked properly. I miss you." I miss just being around her.
"Sweta has told me to deliver this message to you that she wants you to enjoy your trip." I remember Sweta.
"There's so much I have to say to you Shruti." Please come back soon.
I keep on sending her texts but none of them are delivered.
"These texts aren't delivered." I sigh in disappointment.
"Maybe you're offline." I type again. Nishan, you're sounding terrible.
